Are these diamonds eye-clean?

Are you just trying to narrow it down before speaking with JA? These appear to both be nicely cut stones, but if you are seriously considering them you should ask for an Idealscope on them anyway (you can request up to 3). And just ask them to have their gemologist look at them for you and tell you which one is "better" (they are very honest).

Thank you for your reply. I am sure the cuts will be great, but do you think the stones will be eye-clean?

It's not possible to say without the diamond in-hand. Are the crystals transparent or opaque? If opaque are they visible or masked? Are the twinning wisps fine or coarse? Are these specific wisps inter-growths of pinpoints, fractures, crystals, feathers or clouds? Etc etc.

A clarity plot is like a map. It shows the location of the feature, but you must visit the actual location to know the appearance and personality of the population.

I suggest you call a JA gemologist - he or she will be your best source for information, dialogue and analysis.

I love how you describe things John, I can tell that you are a fantastic speaker/teacher, I've often been envious of your audience! =)

This question has been answered, but you really need to ask the gemologist on staff. They're going to be the one with the stone and in hand, not us.

The positive thing about the inclusions on these stones is they have white inclusions which will help. But again, if you want a completely honest opinion, you have to ask their gemologist.

I appreciate your reply and it makes sense, I was just hoping to get those answers with the virtual loupe. The 1.01 has a small black inclusion that worries me but the 1.00 has multiple whiter inclusions!

You should also ask if the stone is eyeclean from the sides if the setting allows the stone to be seen from the side.

That's high praise, coming from a contributor like yourself Christina! Many thanks and I hope we have the chance to swap stories in person one day. =)
