Are the different depths in these studs going to be a problem?

Hello Everyone,

i am new here and i have such a tough time understanding diamonds. The more i read.. the more nuts i get.

Last week i ordered a pair of .60ctw studs i changed my mind about the I color and now i changed my order to another pair 0.50ctw with G color. Now i read all these things about how above 62% dephts going to look smaller. Are these going to look different in size? I drive myself nuts!

Clarity: VS2 VS2
Depth %: 62.1 61.7
Table %: 55 56
Symmetry: Excellent Excellent
Polish: Excellent Excellent
Girdle: Medium to Slightly Thick Medium to Slightly Thick
Culet: None None
Fluorescence: None None
Measurements: 4.07 x 4.04 x 2.52 mm 4.08 x 4.05 x 2.51 mm

34.5, 40.8 crown an pavillion for the 61.7% depth and 34.5 and 40.6 for the other one

There will be a miniscule difference in size -- nothing you would ever be able to see with your eyes. It''s a difference of a few tenths of a millimeter -- microscopic.

what are the crown and pavilion angles?

EDT
Saw the angles, should be fine, all the numbers are close enough that the difference will not be noticeable.

Hi Barbie

The diameters and tables are close so the depths shouldn''t be an issue.

wow you are fast! thanks! do you guys think this will be a nice pair? I am really a mind clean type so i know i could have gone with H/I/J and SI, it''s also my first diamond purchase

They have potential, an Idealscope image for each would give more info.

I don''t have those unfortunately. I ordered from bluenile since they have an UK basis also and i didn''t want to deal with costums

From the info we have they should be good looking diamonds but of course there are no guarantees just going by numbers, see what you think when you see them.

hi barbiebien :)

the size difference is one HUNDREDTH of a millimeter...

there is no way breathing you''ll see it.

i hope you love your diamonds - i''ve had lots of experience with blue nile, all of it good.

hope this works out nicely for you :)

Thanks Whitby, i hope they look nice! My expereance with blue nile so far has been fantastic!

Have you ordered them yet? They should be pretty. For future reference, it''s always helpful seeing Asset images before buying diamonds!

mine too. but don''t be afraid to return them if you don''t like them - their return policy is very good and they don''t give you any grief whatsoever if you send something back; a lot of BN diamond buyers purchase more than one stone when they''re buying for a ring, and return one as a matter of course, so returns are something BN is very used to.

good luck! :)

Hey MC,

i am in Europe so ordering from US sites with these thigs is more costly for me due to import and shipping. And yes, i ordered them

Not really, as BN also ships in stones from the US.

The BN stones ordered from BN UK come from the US to the UK anyway so you will still pay the various duties, they are included at the point of sale.

as far is i know, the goods they sell on the US and CA, UK site are different. So i think they sell European stones from Belgium and others on the UK site. I remember reading that somewhere but i'm not 100% sure

A friend purchased from there recently from the UK site, the stone was in the States, set and sent over to the UK. I don''t know if this is the case with all their diamonds but it was in this instance.

they come from all over. given that it's a virtual inventory, they aren't all kept in the US. my replacement engagement stone, for example, came to me from sweden.

only the signature cut stones are kept in the US as they're cut in the one location (New York). whether the signature cuts for *all* countries are kept in the US - i don't know. but the non-signature cut stones, which i'm assuming yours are, barbiebien, are kept all over.

There is the difference in size. No human eye can detect hundreths of a mm. You are safe.

Yes, mine are non signature but given that they are GIA.. maybe the are from the states.

Dreamer, i know that those are the dimentions but i heard deeper stones look smaller so i thault one will look smaller than the other.

They will only look smaller if the actual measurments are smaller. Deep stones sometimes will have actual smaller measurements, because they arry their carat weight in their depth. In this case, they are the same, so you are safe!
