Are the diamonds on a wedding band worth anything?

Hello. I am trying to comprehend why a wedding band with seven 0.1 ct diamonds in a platinum setting is so expensive. Are 0.1 ct diamonds pricey or is it the labor that I am purchasing?

Thanks

Platinum by itself is an expensive metal. Could be alot of things, designer name brand (Tiffany), or quality of the diamonds in addition to the platinum.

For most designs, labor is the most expensive component. Proper setting is hand work involving some pretty exotic skills and it can be fairly time consuming. The most skilled craftsmen are rarely the least expensive. It's fairly common for the labor involved in the setting to be more expensive than the materials. Sometimes it's a lot more.
