Are EGL *numbers* accurate?

I know the EGL color and clarity grades tend to be off, but are the numbers (crown, pavilion angles, table and depth) accurate?

The numbers on these reports, milimeters, angles and percentages, seem to be as accurate as the measuring devices we presently have available.

There is another thread on the forum now where someone has gotten a good deal on an EGL graded stone. The fact that the independent appraiser did not completely agree with the EGL grading is a rather common occurence. While some folks would be very upset that the appraiser is not in total agreement, a more reasonable attitude is probably more justifiable.

What is most important, is that the customer is pleased and the value is a good one. A color or clarity grade is often a matter of expert opinion, but the overall "deal" has to be a fair one....
