I''ve been reading for days about diamonds and lately I''m not learning anything new...so can anyone give me advice on these - look like a good deal to me

Carat Measurements Color Clarity Depth Table Cut Polish Symmetry LabCertificate Price
.91 5.39 x 5.34 x 3.69 G IF 69.1% 64% EX VG VG GIA $3,829
1.01 5.53 x 5.4 x 3.73 G VS2 69.1% 66% EX VG VG GIA $3,466
1.01 5.55 x 5.51 x 3.72 H VS1 67.5% 66% EX EX VG GIA $3,721

What kind of shape are these?

GIA only gives rounds cut grades... and those can't possibly be rounds - vendor grades, then?

square emerald

not sure what you''re asking - these are from a vendor

GIA only grades the cut performance of round, so the cut grade given is a vendor given grade, can be anything.

With fancy shapes, will need ASET images and crown height to have an idea of the cut performance of the stone.

do these help

Nope. The report does not have the crown height only total depth. No image, just a generic emerald plot.

I''m dealing with online vendors - so what do I need to verify a good deal - not the best deal ever, just good diamond for the money

Either an ASET or go see them in person and compare to a fantastically cut top of the line EC/generic asscher to make sure you have a valid point of perspective.

will the vendor provide the ASET??

Depends on the vendor - most PS vendors will. Who are you looking to buy with?

The other option is to buy your own ASET - runs you $50+shipping http://www.ideal-scope.com/cart_order.asp

Can someone confirm for me that Square Emerald = Asscher? "Real" asschers are the Royal Asschers?

can''t confirm anything when it comes to diamonds but I was told that square emerald does = asscher

The "asscher" is a patented cut owned by the royal asscher company. "square emerald" is the correct term for what we improperly call generic asschers.

Thank you!

Cheers, Charmy!

Kloan,

When you have found some EC''s you are interested in we will also need clear detailed photographs of the diamonds as well as ASET and the crown height please, some vendors should be able to provide this info on request.

can any of you recommend a trust worthy vendor for engagement rings/diamonds
