Hey there, I hope this is the right forum for this post.
I''ve been trolling around PS for sites that I can point my bf at and rest easy that he can''t go too far wrong. The setting is really really important to me so I''ve been paying especial attention to those. I''m a big fan of oggling all the rings and mountings atantiqueengagementrings.com and I just discovered through PS the site engagementringsdirect.com . Is it just me or are some of their antique mountings identical? I thought that perhaps the companies are related?

I don''t think they are related but they both stock the same settings.

Huh, I guess I just assumed that antiquengagementrings.com was taking molds from the antique pieces they accquire. Does anyone know where those settings are originally coming from?

I don''t know where they originally come from. I do know that a couple of Pricescopers have bought their settings from both companies and not been happy with the workmanship. I don''t think they are handmade. Here''s the thread on one of the settings purchased from <ERD

Engagement Rings Direct sells the settings made by antique engagement rings.
Nothing to worry about there.
Leigh (Antinque rings) makes copies from original vintage/estate pieces, as well as making original designs.

Scintillating...

thanks Scintillating, for clearing that up

I had somehow not found that thread when I''ve searched for aer.com references before. It makes me hesitant about having aer on my list. (sites where my S.O. can get me a ring with little to no guidance w/o going horribly astray.) But I have GIA training as a jeweler so flaws with the casting and setting would just jump out for me. Shame, I like their designs.

My quest continues.
