Hi, I recently decided that I would like an oval (or maybe pear, round, or emerald cut) aquamarine halo for an ering. I think they''re beautiful, and why spend more money just to follow the convention of a diamond if I prefer the light blue color? I''ve done a lot of research on this website about diamonds, but now I feel like I know nothing about aquamarines. What vendors would you recommend? Where can I find a white gold delicate halo setting that''s not very intricate from the side view? And preferably not outrageously priced. I saw this on Macy''s and I like the look, but after spending time on PS, I know that I can''t buy from Macy''s. Any recommendations about where to start? Thanks!

I think Topazery has the loveliest aquamarine e-rings, personally.
But I also think you should understand that aquamarine''s are too soft for everyday wear and tear. They are (I believe) in the same family of gems as emeralds. So while I totally understand the desire for a light blue stone... a really lovely light sapphire or something would stand up to everyday wear a little better.

Here are some of the beauties from Topazery:

My favorite one:

Thanks Gypsy. I liked some of them from the top, but I don't like the intricate look from the side. I was planning on eventually just wearing a wedding band and having the ering as a RHR to wear some days. Do you think aquamarine would hold up for everyday use for one year and occasional use beyond that? Are vendors like GOG and WF good for these types of rings?

I like this one, but they don't have it with aquamarine: http://www.topazery.com/antique-jewelry-item-rg2411.htm

I would only wear it sometimes. I don't think it would stand up to everyday wear, even for a year. It depends on your job, but I work in an office environment... I would wear it to work, and out. But not at home, to the store, working out, or anything like that.

My engagement ring is an aqua. It''s a cushion cut with diamond trillions on either side. I wore it every day for five years without any problem & I would say I''m fairly clumsy! I took it off to wash dishes or anything like that but otherwise I wore it like a regular ring. I think as lonng as the setting isn''t too exposed it would be just fine.

I like the ones at my jewelry source. I think Sophie got a setting from them and was very satisfied.

Thanks for the help. I like the look of the halo from the top of that one Gypsy linked. I would like a thin single band for the shank and less of an antique look from the side. Do you think the quality of the aquas are good from these types of websites? Do you have a pictures of your aqua engagement ring?

Hi Cloud9 - My e-ring is an aqua in a split shank setting (sort of) similar to what Gypsy posted, except no halo. I wear it every day and haven''t had any issues at all, and I''m definitely not the most graceful and have whacked it hard a few times accidentally. I had my stone custom cut by Michael Efor an existing setting and was thrilled with the outcome - if you look at old posts of mine, you can see more pictures.

Most aquas I saw before this one were really light in person, even when pictures made them look much brighter and warmer. I''ve found photos can be incredibly decieving with this stone.
