Appraisers in France / Europe?

Hi,

My fiance and I live in Paris, France. I'm American, he's French.

We've just gone ring shopping here and have found a ring we like. We'd prefer to simplify things by buying the diamond from the same jeweler.

I think it's very important (and you'd probably all agree) to get the diamond appraised before we buy it, so we know exactly what we're getting. Does anyone have any recommendations for independent appraisers in France, or elsewhere in Europe?
