Appraisers in Atlanta?

I'm considering purchasing an item from ebay (gasp!), but want it appraised before the return period expires. I've looked under resources and there are two in Atlanta. Has anyone used either of them? How does an appraiser become listed on this site anyhow? I don't want to assume that they are all good, independent appraisers, but I don't have the knowledge of what I need to look for to find another without this site.

I am in Atlanta and I can recommend Steven Turner at Gemcorp, Inc. He is inside the Perimeter on Roswell Road. I paid for an hour of his time while I was looking for stones for my ring and he was most helpful. Very reasonably priced as well.
