Ok, gonna try to make a long story short.
I used an appraiser 2 yrs ago for my fiance''s ering. He''s located in NJ, comes highly recommended by many on this board and is very thorough with his appraisals. I''m not mentioning his name b/c I''m not trying to badmouth the guy. Anyway, I''ve called him 4 times now trying to get fiance''s eternity wedding ring appraised. The first two times was simply phone tag. The beginning of last week I got a hold of him though, asked when he would be available in one of his other locations and he said he would get back to me in 45 mins to let me know his schedule. Well I''m still waiting for that call back. I even called yesterday and left another message asking for him to follow up with me.
Now here''s the thing, busy or not I feel that it is very unprofessional to not follow up with a customer especially when appraisers tend to be egotistical to a degree and rely heavily on their reputation.
I''m going to give him until the end of the day but if I don''t hear from him I plan to find another appraiser at this point. I don''t feel that I should be hunting down someone when I''m going to be paying for their services.
Honestly I think this guy is lucky that I''m not going on a rant and pasting his name everywhere in cyberspace. Not that one complaint would do much to his reputation anyway - just saying.
Would you do anything different?
Am I being irrational?
