Gang,

I made a purchase from Whiteflash and would like to get an insurance policy on the ring. Any tips on how to get it appraised? Anyone have any tips on what to make sure is covered in the policy? I would like full replacement value and insurance against loss or theft. Anything else?

I'm very satisfied with a particular local gemologist doing my appraisals. The only thing to watch out for is what I call a vanity appraisal where the value of the item is grossly inflated. All that does is ensure you pay a higher premium. We have my jewelry as a rider on my homeowners insurance, but oeople seem very hapoy with Jewelers Mutual too.

There are various options available in the market. Different insurers have different requirements for documentation, different coverages, rates, deductibles, etc.

I do want to point out that you can usually get an immediate quote and obtain coverage through Jewelers Mutual Insurance Company by simply entering your Whiteflash order number on a JM page created for that purpose. They offer protection against all risks; loss, theft, and damage.

You may have other plans for your coverage, but I wanted to make sure you were aware of that option.
