Anyone willing to help me photoshop? Considering yellow gold for my 2.22ct FLY brownish yellow

Would you make the head yellow gold?

I vote yellow gold.
Plating won't fully answer the question IMO.
It might come close to how this ring would look if the head were made in yellow gold.
But the plating is not going to fully flow under the prongs- the actual areas of contact will make a difference- more so in a marquise as compared to a round, for example.
But based on the photos, it looks like a lovely diamond and I'd personally love to see it in a well made 18kt yellow gold head- regardless of the rest of the ring.

eta- congrats on the new little princess!!!!

This Saturday she will be 11 weeks old, so I know all about that disheveled appearance. A shower is like the highlight of my WEEK :lol-2:

Oh WOW, she is ADORABLE! What an angel!! Check out the app “one second every day” - I bet you’d like it :)

Oh you’re so right. What a good point. In your experience, is creating a ring head with a yellow gold cup (to further enhance colour) something the average bench can manage? I’m trying to decide if I should give a local guy a shot...

Hmm not sure if you’re allowed to answer my previous question so how about this one: why 18k over 14k? Thanks!

While the plating might not be exactly alike with a new head, it will tell you if you like the transformation well enough to spend the money to have a new head made. Better yet, you can try 18 yellow and then rose if you like.

The reason for 18 kt. yellow is that it is a richer yellow color than 14 kt.

If you so have a cup made, be sure it is made with plenty of room to allow you to clean the finger gookie from the bottom of the diamond. If it has no sparkle, it will not matter if the color is looking deeper after the head change.

Coooool. Great tips. I’ll post pics after I get the head dipped! :D

Also can you believe how great @KKJohnson ’s ring looks and it’s an O-P?!!!! Makes me think that if I do a similar makeover for my fancy light (brownish) yellow... it’s gonna look bananas! :D

I sure am allowed:)
As Wink mentioned, 18kt can have better color than 14- a more intense yellow, as it were.
I still feel that a dip won't fully answer the question- I've learned that the actual setting- including prong color, design- and even the actual color of the metal- can change from one setting to another, and one bench to another...... these details have a large impact on the color of the center diamond.....but go for it to see!

Makes sense! I think I will do this in stages to allow my budget to get more healthfully up to where it needs to be for a full reset, but I’ll enjoy a yellow gold head in the meantime ;)

In theory, I know 18k can be more richly yellow... but in practice when my bff was shopping for a YG band, we couldn’t visually tell the difference between 14k and 18k. I was surprised, actually. Pics online make it stand out to me but IRL I couldn’t see it :/

What we've found is that the manner in which the gold is alloyed, and finished differs from one maker to another.
So, some 18kt is yellower than others.
Same is true for pink or rose gold- it varies ( tremendously) depending on who is making and finishing it.
