Anyone willing to help me choose a stone with VC??

A band won't sit flush with the Emilya setting because there is a donut. You could have VC shave it down a bit, but it still won't allow a completely flush fit. One thing you could do, however, is have him do the Emilya in a cathedral. I can't remember which PS member has that version... Let me see if I can find it.

Just as an fyi, if you decide to go with Victor. There is a flush fit version of the Emilya with no donut (I have one).

~~~~Ok let's forget about the setting at this point in time I'm working on making changes to it now so I can gain a slightly bigger centre stone~~~~
I might have pushed it a little bit more. In your honest opinion, if you were in my shoes; would this stone be a good choice??
(We asked VC for a video of it in the sunlight but it costs $200 USD)
1) Is this ok re: the inclusions?
2) HCA score which I have not done yet, would the results do you think it will be fiery/sparkly?
3) Aset scope photo would you be happy with that??
Really ready to close a deal soon.
Thank you!
You won't need a video...that is a lovely stone! You also don't use the HCA on ideal cut stones because they are already graded ideal. The HCA is mostly to screen GIA Excellent cut stones to find the ones that are close to ideal cut. The ASET image is great!
I really love H VS1. G-H VS1 is actually my personal preference for modern round brilliants. VS1 is a very clean stone, and I don't care to pay for any higher than VS1 because you can almost see no inclusions with a 10x loupe! I do have H VS2's for my diamond stud earrings, though. I think if you want to spend $5k, this would be a great choice. However, if you are going to just get a temporary solitaire for now and have him make an Emilya later, I'd go with this one:
I'd keep the doughnut if you ever make the Emilya. It keeps the two rings from rubbing each other. My wedding band has some light patina from rubbing the doughnut, but it protects my e-ring and it still has high polish on the sides. The doughnut just makes a very tiny gap. I like it better because I don't like two rings to look glued together.
Thank you very much for your input it is valued muchly. Yes I will be keeping the donut anyway. I like the look of e-ring and wedder to sit quite close anyway so I will be getting a flush fit band or spacer as per his recommendation. As much as I'd like the stone you suggested I think I have pushed my luck, or should I say partners budget, far enough :lol-2:
We would much rather just get it all done now than go solitaire and halo it later. Heck I have been waiting 13 years for this, gotta strike while the iron is hot ;)2
This is the Emilya with flush fitting stems (not mine by the way).You can ask Victor about it. I have an Emilya from Victor myself with a donut and Personally prefer it because of the look. Also, like DS said it prevents the two rings from rubbing against each other.
Here is my Emilya (with cathedral shoulders) and a donut against the VC shallow u-cut band. I didn’t get diamonds on the donut to help prevent scratches.49877A33-949E-4245-8684-3967A375815F.jpeg
Well if you've been waiting for 13 years, I think you deserve one of the three carat rocks!:lol:
As Logan says, don't get pave on the doughnut (and I love her style of Emilya). Victor can make it small and you won't have to use a spacer. A notched spacer is just not going to stay in place anyway.
I like the stone you chose just fine and it will be gorgeous!:love:
Hey @msop04 :wavey:
As far as I know, VC *does* still set outside center stones - though for all I know he may be phasing that out. What he doesn't set is outside *side* stones. OP should still be ok using an outside center stone if she wants to. I can't quite get a handle, tho, on how committed she is with VC - whether she's open to switching paths at this point, or if she's open to doing just an outside center stone, or if she'd prefer to keep the whole thing in house and get the 10% discount.
Quoting Victor Canera from an email he sent me, "I prefer to work with my own stones." This was the response I got after inquiring about setting my Opulence Oval, a shape that he does not have on his site at all right now (except in yellow). So, I guess he would be willing to source me an oval, just not work with my August Vintage stone. This conversation was with VC on Dec. 20, so it was recently. If he will work with your outside stone, that is great. I found another designer anyway.
It's common knowledge on PS that Victor will not work with August vintage stones, as he has his own line of Vintage cuts.
But my stone was an Opulence Oval, albeit an August Vintage *brand*.
He doesn't set AV brand stones. Period. That does not mean he won't set another outside stone for the OP.
