I usually consider myself kinda middle of the road and uninterested politically.

But I see a terrifying authoritarian threat from the right now and safety and a return to normalcy from the right.

Trump constantly outright lies and has also managed to convince a large number of people that only his news is true, while the news that was good enough for us all before his election is all lies. That's a typical fascist thing because once he controls what you hear, read or watch, he's got you.

One big thing is his constant accusations to others of the very thing he himself is the one doing.

For ex., he's created this fear that we are in danger of takeover from "socialists" or "communists" or "the radical left" - when no such threat is anywhere on the horizon. Obviously, takeover of our democracy is terrifying and it's the same thing whether it comes from the left or the right.

But Biden and Harris have long, proven track records of moderate politics. They are nowhere NEAR socialist, communist or radical left.

Meanwhile, Trump IS taking over our democracy with authoritarianism. It is unprecedented in our country and is surreal to watch.

Now I see how it happened in Hitler's Germany. Too many people were fooled, fell for the hyped up frenzies he created, and they gave him the power. By the time they realized what they had done, it was too late. Now the same scenario is here in the US.

When people talk about the other issues, I think WHAT other issues? When we are one election away from falling into a dictatorship, nothing else matters.

This makes no sense. Republicans are the ones that spend the most. They allocate to the military money that the military does not want or need. They give money to small communities to militarize the police. They cut taxes for the wealthy and corporations. The middle class gets a pittance.
If payroll taxes are cut, tax rate cut for wealthy and corporations, where do you get funds for Social Security, Medicare, infrastructure, schools?

I watch the DNC tonight and none of the speakers condemned the violences.

I know the DNC is over and I didn't hear a good economic plan for our country going forward.
