Anyone want to help me design a ring for my sister?

My mom passed away suddenly in 2016, and I have most of her jewelry, which was bountiful, but NOT my taste or my sister's tastes at all. She liked big, colorful stones in yellow gold (I like small, simple things in white metal). I was planning to make a ring for my sister for her birthday out of one of these items, a yellow gold cocktail diamond cluster around a really pretty (but small) emerald. I'll attach a picture. My sister loves green stones, and she lost a green-stone ring my mom bought her for a significant birthday, which as always made her sad.

My friend from elementary school is a metal worker/jeweler and she said she would like to help me with this - I thought it would be a fun project! I have a setting in mind, but would welcome any advice, thoughts, or other settings you might have seen that you think would work. She likes antique, art deco type styles and white metal. I'm attaching a couple of pictures of my mom's cocktail ring so you can see the stones - it's actually quite nice quality - the emerald is a great color and the diamonds are sparkly. The last photo was my inspiration photo, although I don't have baguettes for the corners.

All feedback is welcome!

I think this is very sweet. I have no ideas, but I do like the art deco one you posted.

Thanks! Do you think this thread would be better an another forum? I didn't want to put it in SMTB, because I don't have it done yet. Maybe colored stone thread?

Maybe the colored stone would be a good place? Or even rocky talky. I think its kind of getting buried here.

Your emerald looks very nice and I love your inspiration picture.
Yours looks to be an oval however? I’m not sure how well that will translate to a geometric design.
How big does your sister like her rings? If you go with something like the inspiration picture I think it may end up quite small  not necessarily a problem but worth bearing in mind.

In case you are concerned with size here are some other Art Deco designs which would give you a bigger ring.

I agree! That was a concern of mine, because Mine is an oval, and it is small. She doesn’t like really large rings anyway. She actually really likes metal work more than actual stones. When she got engaged she was between a one carat diamond and this little emerald with a diamond surround (for $1200). Pretty sure the jeweler thought she was nuts, but she did pick the diamond in the end

I didn’t say as I got carried away  but I think it a lovely idea too and I’m sorry for the lost of your Mother.
@Bayek I’m so sorry for your loss. It’s special to be able to treat the ones we love.
Thanks for the compliment @Calliecake I have a rather large Pinterest board of rings
@violet3 which sapphire ring? Given your comment I wonder if more engraving and metal work rather than a diamond halo might be better?

Sure someone did an engraved metal halo ring a few years ago. But of course I cannot remember who

Of course it was yennyfire’s beautiful ring. Perhaps something like this could be another option?
