Hi! I''m a serial Weight watchers joiner, lol. This time I am very motivated!

I woukd LOVE to talk recipes, WW tips, or just plain WW chat , if anyone else is interested.

Thanks!

Hey Treysar...

I''m on WW.. and I love it.. I''ve been really lax lately.. but as soon as I get home (I''ve been on vacay for two weeks) I am going to start again..

I would love to trade some tips, etc. with you!!!

I''ve got a great couple of recipes... yummy..

You guys should join the weekly workout thread (WWT)! We're all exercising, dieting, and trying to tone up and lose weight. Everyone has different goals, but it's a really great place to get motivation, tips, etc. I think a few people on there have been on WW in the past too.

ditto this, i know WW has their whole point system and all that but the WWT thread has a bunch of PS''ers working to change their lifestyle including diet and exercise...so you might want to check it out as well. skippy is on WW and i think one or two other gals as well.

Treysar,
I do weight watchers too.
Do you go to meetings? I think they help. Try the zero point soup; that helped me a lot. It is also a good way to get veggies.
Also join the WWT; it is helpful!!! The people on WWT are wonderful

Also, arm yourself w/the fast food guide they sell at Weight Watchers. It really helps when dining out!

p.s. I am happy to talk WW talk!!!! I am glad someone else does WW

I am following WW too! Alas, I tried the WWT last week and couldn''t keep up with all the posts. Totally my own inadequacy at work there. LOL!

I would love to share WW tips and ideas (written while enjoying my 1 Point WW yogurt)

I''m doing WW. Well. I''m paying for the meetings and I''m going to them. I have not really been tracking because, frankly, I''m stressed out lately and I''ve been comfort eating. I have not, up to now, gained back all the weight I lost, although it''s creeping back. I make myself go to the meetings so I can "own" the consequences. This week I''m getting back on track, though.

I don''t really cook much, like with recipes. I tend to try to keep things really simple -- 4 oz pork chop, long grain wild rice, and steamed broccolli type meals. My family won''t touch casseroles, except my husband likes Hamburger helper. Obviously can''t do that, so I go the whole foods route for the most part.

The WWT is too advanced for me, LOL! My fitness level is much lower than those on that thread and I find it a little daunting. It moves a little too fast for me, too, so I find it hard to keep up with everyone''s posts. The Weight Watchers boards move way too fast, too. Like 5-10 new threads a minute? I personally wouldn''t mind a separate Weight Watchers thread here on PS, but I don''t know if that''s okay?

Lumpkin, sure!
Do you have any point friendly recipes? I posted a recipe on the WW Recipe thread for 8 pt izza dough which makes 2 pizza crusts.

Also, the Fiber One chocolate bars are 2 ts and super yummy. Do you do the soup recipe???

I have done WW in the past but I was using the CORE system... anyone else using that?

I only lost about 5lbs but I felt so much better. I pretty much memorized what was on the core list of foods so I didnt see paying 15 buck a month for the service...

So anyone else on CORE?

Lumpkin, I just wanted to say don''t feel daunted with the WWT, as we are all works in progress and at different levels, we all had to start somewhere, if you want to chime in then please do so!!! Everyone is welcome regardless of whether they are working out or not, or what level they are at, you don''t even have to share much about your routines if you don''t wish too. But if you would rather not join in, that is ok too!!! The thread has grown and moves fast these days!

But I wanted to wish you and Jools luck!

I LOVE the Fiber One bars. But....BE CAREFUL....make sure you only eat one a day. I was really on the run one day and literally didn''t have time to fix anything, so over about 4 hours I had 3 of those bars. Umm, without sharing TMI I will just say....don''t do that.

I''m going to try the core plan for a week. I like the idea of eating until you are comfortably satisfied and listening to your body. Before I had kids I followed the US Food Guide Pyramid and made sure that no matter what else I ate, I ate the vegetables, grains, fruits, dairy and meats. I was never hungry and I lost quite a little bit of weight, and when I quit doing it I didn''t gain it back for a long time. If I find the WW too restricting or just lose patience with the tracking I''m going to go back to that. I''ll still probably go to meetings. If I have to go weigh in I''m more honest, LOL!

I eat a lot of fiber in general so my body is use to it black bean soup, broccoli, bran muffins, high fiber breads. hehehe

Any other foods you like to eat low in points? Are you life time?

I love Alexia home fries; they are like french fries and low in points. I think 3 points for a big serving!

Oooooo, Skippy, I love the Alexia fries. Especially because they are family friendly. I can make myself, the kids and DH lean burgers with Alexia fries for a much healthier version of "fast food."

One of my absolute favorite treats are Vitamuffins. They are loaded with vitamins, fiber and protein and are only 1 POINT. The chocolate ones are to die for... especially after being warmed in the microwave. The chocolate chips get all gooey. I usually have one as a dessert after getting the kids to bed.

i am not WW but i love alexa fries and the vitamuffins and vitabrownies!!

Vitamuffins are good and only 2 pts!!! Whooo hooo!

Mara''s banana muffins are only 2 pts if you use egg beaters, no sugar (splenda) instead and no nuts. Very hearty too! Kudos Mara for turning me on to them.

The first couple of days you might feel bloated (because you are eating less carbs and more fruits and veggies) but once you get most of the refined sugars and carbs out of your system you will feel fabulous. When I was doing core I felt the best in terms of energy and food cravings than at any other time.
I need to go back on it... LOL... I just tend to get carried away with the points that you can use to eat anything. I swear I went over every week.

How do you stay motivated?

I am so excited to see this thread, because I was planning on joining weight watchers this week. In fact, I go tomorrow night! I have been a member before, I also am a serial joiner! I will be sure to post here.

I am supposed to go tonight but can't make the meeting. This week is CRAZY for me. But I am doing my best to be good. Next week will tell the tale....

I'm going over the core foods and making a grocery list. We're going to get groceries this afternoon and I'm planning my week's food.

Sort of on/off topic: When you go to the store for a whole week's groceries, do you find that you waste more food? I have been wasting too much food and think I'm better off to go twice a week. I get too ambitious and over buy, then some of the produce and meet expires.

OH, and worth the extra point: Yoplait whips yogurt. It's 3 points instead of 2, but I'm sorry, I can't stand the nonfat splenda yogurts. I'll take that extra point.

I grocery shop twice a week. If I do it once a week stuff spoils. Have you tried the Weight Watchers yogurt and it is 1 point?
Boca Burger makes a tomato basil burger that is 2 points and super yummy. Sara Lee''s Delightful bread is 1 point for 2 slices. Also, the 98% fat free bologna is 1 point.

I have, Skippy. I just don''t like it! But I will say that eating that yogurt is not what put weight on me -- it''s the drive thru food. Definitely!

Have you purchaed WW fast food guide? I find it helpful when going to the drive thru since it gives points.

When I joined I got the little kit for $30 that had a tote, the guide for eating out, the book of all the foods and points, and I think it has some other stuff in it, too, but those are the ones I use.

I''m really trying to just stay away from fast food. It''s very expensive, not nutritious, and of course, very fattening.

I''m going to try the CORE plan starting tomorrow. I''m looking forward to eating guacamole tomorrow night. YUM!

Here''s my recipe -- it''s so, so simple and my very finicky older son loves it:

2 med avacados
1/2 small onion, chopped (you can use a white onion or you can use a Vadalia onion -- about 1/4 C)
1 t salt
lemon juice to taste and for desired consistency

Mash the avacados, onion and salt, squeeze a little lemon juice until it''s the consistency you like for dipping or as a topping.

How is everyone doing on WW this week?
1.gif

I joined Wednesday and it actually feels good to be back on the program. Now with my controlled eating on points, I am shocked to see how much I was eating for a while. The past year since my engagement party and wedding, I gained 20 lbs during all of it! Apparently I was just eating with reckless abandon. So it''s a relief to be back on points and feel in control. I''m excited about weigh-in this Wednesday!

I am desperate to get back on track.. mooooo!!!

Steve doesn''t know it yet.. but he''s about to jump on board as well.. LOL

I wish I could get my hubby to join; he could lost 15 lbs. I think writing down points helps. I need to stop meeting friends for lunch.

How do you stay motivated?

PoshPepper...I am a Lifetime WW member since 2001. I'm VERY pregnant right now, so obviously not following any plan other than 'eat what does not give me heartburn" LOL..

So how do you stay motivated? I noticed in previous post that you said "why spend $15 a month for meetings?" MOTIVATION GIRLFRIEND!!! I found that if I consistently went to meetings, my weight stayed off. When I made Lifetime, my meeting requirement went from 1x a week to 1x a month & my weight crept up a few pounds. I found that by going to the meetings, getting the "atta girl" from weighing in & maintaining, knowing I'd have to check in with my leader & she'd want to see my journal if I gained kept me accountable. Once I hit goal, I found 2 to 3 times a month was enough to keep my weight down.

another friend & I likened it to AA. We have issues with food...we overeat, we comfort eat, we emotional eat. We need help. We go to our meetings AKA "group therapy" and are held accountable. We learn new things, new recipes, new snack tricks, new coping strategies for dining out, family gatherings, other diet busters.

I maybe went once a month after my son was born & only lost 12 of the 21lbs I had left to lose of baby weight. After this girl is born, I know, from experience, that I MUST commit to weekly meetings.

All the WW studies show that those who attend meetings lose more weight & keep it off. Compared to plans like Jenny Craig, L.A. Weight Loss, Nutrisystem, etc...the small weekly fee is nothing. (here it is $12 a week, I think being a lifer, I get a deal at $8 a week)....so for roughly $32 to $48 bucks a month (compared to a minimum of $800 for LA Weightloss & that doesn't include the goofy foods htey make you buy that run you a few hundred a month)

Sorry to go on & on, I'm just very passionate about WW, because if you JOURNAL, Go to Meetings, drink your water, and truly truly measure your portions & don't fudge on how many points you are really eating...its very successful. But you MUST give into the plan & just do it without trying to tweak it.

All the scientists/dieticians/nutrionists for WW are from Harvard & Columbia (and a few other top notch institutions) so you are NOT getting a load of fluff from some hack.

Just my .02

Good luck everyone!

Skippy: Does your WW leader not teach you guys how to eat out successfully? There is no reason why you cannot meet friends for lunch, you just have to make the right choices. This is why I preach attending meetings in a loud voice from the top of my soapbox. I went out ALL THE TIME when I first joined WW & in the 4 years I kept the weight off before starting my family. It is all about knowing what to order that A) you like and B) is the right choice.

At our meetings the leader would have everyone talk about different things each week, & the topics are REALLY GREAT. They hit home...they motivate, they lift you up & you sit there thinking "wow, I never thought of that & I thought I knew it all!". A few of my girlfriends were kind of snobbish about going to meetings...they thought they were "too good" or "too smart" to need something so sad as a meeting.....but once they got over themselves they actually enjoyed the process. It''s all about checking the old ego at the door. Like I told one girlfriend...."if you HAD the willpower to do it yourself, you''d already be at your goal weight. Some people can do it, but if you can''t why fight it alone?"

I just found out Steve''s Mom is paying for our gym membership through the end of the year.. THANK GOD.. which means Steve can spend an hour or so a day in the pool swimming, using the spa and weights.. this is going to be very good for him.. It also means we get to spend some quality time TOGETHER OUT OF THE HOUSE..
