Anyone know who does upgrades for diamonds bought elsewhere?

I'm looking to upgrade my diamond. I know Whiteflash and IDJ wont upgrade the stone unless it was purchased there. Does anyone know of any vendors who will do an upgrade with a stone bought elsewhere (with the GIA certificate of course)?

Most will, I think including WF and IDJ if it's the right sort of stone. The issue is going to be working out the price. They can bid whatever they like. It'll have nothing to do with either what you paid or what the new one costs so 'upgrade' isn't exactly the right word. You're selling one diamond and buying another one.

You can use the "Get A Quote" button on the upper right hand side of the screen. Enter the info on your stone and see
if you get any bids on it.

If it's something other than round it is going to be a little more difficult.

Good luck!

Edit ...you an also just try to sell it outright in the pre-loved forum. The hard part is coming up with a price that you are willing
to let it go and having people feel like they are getting a decent deal.

HI cchloe,
I suggest shopping for what you want, then contact the seller that has the stone or ring you want.
If you're making a purchase, there's motivation to try and buy your diamond at a better price than youy'd get if you sell it as an independent deal.

In terms of who might be interested in such a deal, you'll probably need to use a seller that actually owns their diamonds as opposed to a "virtual seller"

I don't know of anyone who will do a true up-grade if the diamond is from another vendor. When I say true up-grade I mean that they will give you what you paid for your stone to put towards another stone.

I know WF will consider a trade-in. Meaning they will evaluate your diamond and give you an offer on it. I'm guessing it'll range from 40-60% of what you paid for it. That's just an educated guess :).
