Or suggestions on what to do? They won''t let me buy the setting without a center diamond - and I bet the cost would be outrageous anyway. Any suggestions on who could make it or perhaps another manufacturer who makes a similar design?

How much do you think a custom setting like that would cost in white gold?

Thanks gang!!

Whats the ring look like ?

It's like this in a round diamond, right? (Pictures of the Ritani versions at their site.)

I saw on NiceIce's site that they make them (for rounds too, but the larger versions of the pictures seem to be broken), but they didn't say anything regarding prices. EDIT: They say $7500 for the one pictured, with the 1.5ct Asscher. So there's pricing information, it's just really expensive!

There were some other settings somewhat like it that I saw:

And from Fay Cullen

I hope these are helpful. I saw some others like it when I was running around looking at settings, but I don't remember exactly where. If you have any other specs, let us know, help me procrasinate

I have this same ?...

The Ritani Endless Love Solitaire is similar, but has important (to me!) differences from those pictured. I can attach a pic from Ritani's site later, but it's much thinner, and the band bends up very suddenly to accomodate the center stone. The diamonds set on the band are really really tiny - "micro-pave" is it? And, the diamond kind of hangs there visibly down from the bezel. I don't know if that made any sense!... It's more streamlined and modern looking than the ones pictured.

I too am interested in getting it replicated, but was wondering if there are copywright issues or anything to be wary of? Would it be an easy design for any jeweler to replicate? It seems simple to me, but I'm not sure what is involved. Ritani says the reason you have to use their stones is because it has to be a super precise fit for this particular design to work.

I'll post a pic later today...

You may want to look on THIS older thread. Otherwise, it doesn't look like a tour de force

That's the pic, at least of the one that I am interested in, I think it's also the one the original post was refering to - there's a 3 stone version as well. Thanks!

It's hard for me to describe for some reason. I don't have all of the vocab down yet! ; )

I love the pave. You're saying you saw it somewhere just like that but without pave? '

I would be so happy to find a generic version somewhere, or to hear that it would be easy to duplicate. I'd even happily buy their version, but suspect that they charge way too much for the center stone, and don't like the policy in general of requiring you to buy both.

Yes, that's the pic, the ritani setting i LOVE! And let me tell you, the picture does not even do it justice, it's totally gorgeous in person, and it swear it made the .50 ct look HUGE when i saw it in Bailey Banks a& Biddle. LOVED IT!

chaqun a son gout, as they say -- I have to say I prefer the less modern-looking settings.

sorry I couldn't help you out!

I know - I'm torn because I normally like more ornate, antique style settings, and this is the exception.

For some reason I love this one, and am not as keen on the similar ones where the halo around the center is thicker.

I'm really afraid that I'll buy a setting that I get tired of - since I've been looking, my tastes have shifted a bunch of times already...I'm trying to figure out whether I'm more likely to get sick of a really detailed, substantial setting, or a sleeker, more modern setting.....

It makes my head spin!

This one is similar and striking!

"copywright issues or anything to be wary of?"

Any retail jeweler who copies the design of another can definitely get himself into trouble--if he's discovered and if the designer wants to go to the trouble to sue.

It's a gamble for a jeweler--to try to replicate the piece well and satisfy the customer, as well as an ethical issue. Designers such as Harout Ritani, Scott Kay, and many more, spend, hundreds of thousands of dollars building up their brand (meaning, gain recognition in the public's eye) after they've mastered their craft and developed original jewelry lines. "Knocking off" designers happens frequently in the trade, but is nevertheless frowned upon.

The settings in the "Endless Love" Collection do feature micro pave--half-point stones (still full cut) that are set under magnification, which is a laborious job even for highly skilled diamond setters.

Ritani isn't the only designer to require the purchase of whole diamond engagement rings, not just semi-mounts (the mounting, no center stone), through one source. Many use specific diamond sources because they're consistent in quality, plentiful, and work well in designs. Plus, we're also talking about artists (they can be particular).

Inquire about costs for an EL ring, they might not be as bad as you suspect. By my last check, those EL rings started at $5,800, featuring a .60 ct center (I don't have the specs on the stone) with .34 cts. t.w. micro pave.

Thanks. Very helpful. Does Ritani sell the whole rings in the whole range of center stone sizes? Do you know if the diamonds they use in the center are well cut?

To add to this discussion of Ritani rings and specifically the Endless Love:

The setting is truly gorgeous. One of my closest friends, as well as my setting hunter friend (we were on pace to get engaged at the same time) got the Endless Love. She went through a great deal of heartache trying to find a jeweler that knew that Ritani likes to use their owner diamond wholesaler. From my knowledge of dealing with over 4 Ritani dealers, they partnered with Julius Cline (diamond wholesaler) last year in order to provide the "whole package". They want to brand themselves as an exclusive jeweler such as say a Tiffany's. They want to provide a high quality "whole package". My friend got the ring and it is amazing! The center stone is not "ideal" by the set standards but it by far sparkles more then any stone I have ever seen...She got SO lucky. You can read my search story as well as me describing her Julius CLine stone in my other threads. But I can say Ritani's stones are spectacular...Her's certainly is. Her setting, the Endless Love, is beautiful and the Micro-Pave is amazing. It didn't look good on my finger as I thought the micro-pave bezel looked too round and odd on my finger. I choose an extremely similar setting to hers just mine has the "bezel" under the girdle of the stone. Ritani does exceptional work and when I get mine I will post pics (my boyfriend has been torturing me aka waiting for the perfect moment for 8 weeks). I believe Julius Cline's/Ritani's prices are decent. I know Fortunoff's does discount an additional 20% off at the end. My advise....If you love the setting, find someone that will work with you! I know the jewelers I found in my adventure were willing to work with me.

Also one other thing to keep in mind is that Ritani makes their rings specifically for the diamond. AND they do not use other diamonds but they WILL re-set your diamond if they are given the diamond in a setting with "reasonable wear". Just another thought. Good luck with your search and if you have any other questions you can PM me.

To add one more thing the the manager of a local Fortunoff's had said (and she had recently purchased and was wearing the Endless Love), if you have 2 carat's and over Ritani will set that stone for you in the Endless Love. Her's was as such and they did it for her. Needless to say if you are planning on getting a stone that large placed in the settingI would check with your local Ritani dealer first!

The last two posts from Novice were very insightful!

Ritani did partner recently with Julius Kline, a diamond siteholder, and while the company uses UltraCut diamonds exclusively when making rings, I don't have any gemological information about those rocks (but it sounds like Novice already found out something about them).

I do know that the founder/designer of Ritani spent a decade freelance designing for a big-name jewelry retailer before striking out on his own, and that the quality that that brand produces sets standards for many others, so I'd expect Harout to follow in the same tradition on his own.

I agree with Novice; the Endless Love ring is striking. I've tried on a few EL rings, and other micro pave rings, as other companies are copying the process, but there's something about THAT ring ... folks will keep trying to imitate it--and they come close--but the final piece NEVER looks as right as that one.
