I am already having a hard time finding a dress. I know I would like a mermaid/trumpet shape with a dropped waist that starts to flare at the upper/mid thigh, but I am having a hard time finding something that I really like. I tried on this Maggie Sottero gown in ivory, and I really like it's shape, but am not too happy about the details. http://images.maggiesottero.com/styles/389_x_529_front/S/S5097.jpg

I love the look and shape of this Ines De Sasnto gown http://www.brides.com/fashion/dresses/gallery/wedding_dresses/vendor/detail/118165?pf=neckline%3aoff-the-shoulder&pf=waist%3adropped&offset=15&page=2, but I'm sure it's out of my budget (I'm thinking of a budget up to $3000). I'm not sure what it looks like up close, as I couldn't find any other pictures of it. If you ladies know of anything of a similar style, and can point me to some pictures, that would be just lovely

hi brooklyngirl!

congrats on getting engaged and joining us

it would take me a million years to post pictures of all the gowns that i have in mind, but two designers that seem to have a lot of that style dress are melissa sweet (although her waist drops a little bit lower) and anjolique. i think that theknot.com and weddingchannel.com have a ''search for gown'' tool that lets you search by silhouette, so i bet you could find some there. and lucky you with that budget!!!

my dress is an anjolique with that cut, and there''s a million pictures of it here anjolique 930. i''ll keep an eye out for any others!

Thanks mimzy! Those dresses look really nice. Have you (or anyone else) encountered anything with a tie up corset in the back? Does the tie up corset make a difference? I would think it''d be easier as far as sizing, and any last minute weight loss/gain go.

Keep ''em coming ladies!

My dress is corset with lace up back and I love it!! I''m still planning on losing about 10 pounds or so but I''m not worried because of how the back laces up, it''s also a really classic look!!

That''s very pretty dress! One thing I love about the corseted dresses is that they force you to have good posture. I''m not sure how this works with zip up dresses.

a lot of them have a corset back and i don''t think it makes any difference. the maggie sottero you posted has a corset back (i tried that one on too) and it was nice. i think that if it DID make any difference it would be positive because it would cinch your waist in more to make the distinction between it and your waist even more noticeable. but that''s just a theory and in practice i don''t think there is much of a difference.

I have the same theory

. My waist looked tiny in the maggie dress... I love what it does for my figure

. Now if only I could find something of the same general shape, bu different detailing
