Looking for anyone that has gone from something like a standard GIA EX to a H&A 'super ideal' calibur stone. Happy with the upgrade/notice much difference etc?

The above is just an example, I'd love to hear about any upgrades in cut quality and your experience with it.

Also, anyone that has an optimally cut stone, do you think it stands out versus other people's stones that you have seen?

Of course!.. :praise:

Just to clarify, some superideal cuts are graded by GIA, so maybe you want to ask if true H&A superideal cuts can be distinguished from excellent or ideal cut stones that are not? There are AGS Ideal cuts that are superideal/H&A and those that are not. I think it might be difficult for most people to tell the difference between an ideal cut and a superideal, but it was worth it to me to have the superideal cut. That way you know you have the best and don't have to second guess yourself. I could probably tell the difference between some of them, but not necessarily those that are near superideal cut.

Thanks for the replies. I meant the difference between any upgrade, even from poor to super ideal. A standard GIA excellent vs a super ideal would be a comparison I am particularly interested in.

So for example, a stone with proportions like this (diamond I've discussed in other threads just using as an example here):

.73 G VS2 EX VG EX
HCA 0.8
5.82 - 5.85 x 3.58 mm
Depth: 61.3
Table: 54
Crown angle 34.5
Crown height 15.5
Pavilion angle 40.6
Pavilion depth 42.5
Star length 50%
Lower half 80%
Medium (3%).
No fluorescence
No culet
Cloud, feather, laser inscribed.

So assume worst case scenario with rounding etc and that there is some leakage, would that leakage be discernible? That's basically what I am getting at with this thread. It's great chasing the best, but is it something you can actually see? This is obviously going to be open to speculation to an extent, so just give opinions don't worry about it actually being 'fact'. I would imagine that there is a significant difference between poor/super ideal though lol.

I upgraded my side stones from generic to ACA and it made a ton of difference!

For myself, a recut made all the difference in the world! Incredible before & after results (IMHO), a few threads below.

Good luck with your decision, I'd do it in a heartbeat based on my experience. :wavey:
