I looked at a ring at a small local jeweler that was certified by PGS (Professional Gem Science). It was a 2.24ct, H color, SI3 stone. Since it was SI3, I thought I wouldn''t like it at all, but it was surprisingly eye clean. (It was already in a setting though, so I''m not sure if some of the inclusions are hid by a prong.) Although it isn''t a fabulous stone, I did like it, and I believe it is priced to reflect that it is not a top quality/ideal cut stone.
My question is whether anyone has heard of or dealt with PGS before? I think they are out of Chicago but couldn''t find them on the BBB. I''m already assuming I should discount their grading compared to AGS or GIA, but just curious if anyone has ran across them before.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
