I am considering buying a high-quality 10X loups for both gems & diamonds.

Saw this 10X blue loupe at Garry Hollowy''s site for $35

http://www.ideal-scope.com/big_pic_loupe.asp

and wondered if it''s the same loupe he mentions and praises here:

Garry - how does this loupe compares in optical & image quality to Zeiss, Nikon, Bausch & Lomb and the rest of the high-end loupes ?

I highly regard your opinion on this subject

Best Regards

Sorry but I have been having problems with my computer.

I saw these loupes and bought out all dozen or so of his stock about 8 years ago at a trade fair, and was down to my last one (staff and friends did well).

I had never seen them again until we were looking for a lens for the $120 Ideal-scope and there it was.

It is the only loupe I use and I always have one in my pocket. It is light (plastic body) and has a wide field (it is big) so it is easy to use. It might be possible to get better optics if you spend 4 times more and use a smaller sized lens. This little beauty has 4 separate lenses inside and so it has no achromatic distortion (colored fringes).

But I am biased.

Garry,

I take your word that this is the best quality loupe money can buy at $35

I just made an order for the $70 kit from your website

Looking forward getting the loupe and using it.

Best Regards
