hi everyone - i have been in search mode for a cushion since June, and haven''t found the one yet
7.gif
i''ve been in contact with several vendors, and was sent images of this stone. if it''s ok i would like to omit the stats in case of lurkers because im very interested in the stone. unfortunately i only have pictures of it, but will work on trying to get the vendor to get at least an IS or ASET. i''d just like to get everyone''s thoughts on the look of the stone. it is a warmer color which i don''t mind since i''m working on a budget.

thanks in advance everyone!

Its hard to tell from the photo, can you ask the vendor for some close up detailed shots please? And thats fine if you would rather not but if you have the following info such as depth, table, girdle thickness and crown height, ASET image and so on could you post that too please?

This diamond is also showing a distinct tint, but if that is what you are looking for then thats fine.

thanks lorelei. i also want to add an additional thanks for all the advice from my last post in my cushion cut search, it's really been a huge help and now i can talk to vendors to ensure they won't rip me off :)

the specs of the stone:

Depth Percentage: 63.3%
Table Percentage: 68 %
Crown: 10.40%
Pavilion: 49.30%
Girdle: TN
Culet: None
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Very Good
Fluorescence: Faint

I'm sure there won't be much to tell about the stone from the numbers, but i'm working on getting better images, and also an IS and ASET if possible.

The tint gives it an antiquish feel which I like. But I find the table a little too big, I prefer to keep it under 62% as a matter of preference. The pictures are too small and the tilts of the diamond too limited to check if it has an issue with head obstructions. I wouldn''t feel safe buying this cushion if it were based on these pics and numbers.

Thanks b.anna!

I agree with dmitri that the table is on the large side, however it does have a decent crown height and depth being greater than the table size is not a hard and fast rule, and if you like the diamond thats the main thing. Can you get some close up photos and an ASET image do you think?

closeups and IS are coming tomorrow. unfortunately, i couldn''t push for the ASET but i think if i keep telling this vendor that i''m very very very interested in the stone (which i am), i''m sure it can be done.

i''m also waiting for a stone from james at whiteflash which im very very excited about. i will get a full workup of that stone tomorrow and post. here are its specs:

Depth %: 64.4%
Table %: 62%
Symmetry: Very Good
Polish: Excellent
Girdle: Thin to Very Thick, Faceted
Culet: Very Small
Fluorescence: None

does the table and depth % seem better on this one? i like the depth, the table could probably be less, but im more interested in how the stone looks. this stone is a lot more than the the first one i posted because of its higher color and clarity, but if this one really sings to me, then i don''t mind paying the extra.

This one has potential, ask JA for an ASET image which they can now supply, also if you could post just the photo that would help too please.

See what happens with the other, if you could at least get a close up photo that would be very helpful. Is this the type of cushion you want for shape etc?

thanks lorelei.

i dont have any images of the WF stone because i found it through a drop shipping site, so they requested it for me and will have it in their hands tomorrow and do the workup then. the WF stone has strong potential because it has a modified 8-main pav structure that i''m looking for. the first stone was just one that i found and seemed like a potential choice. both stones are clean, and have a L/W ratio of below 1.05. im really looking forward to seeing the WF stone, i think it has huge potential - i saw a similar stone with the same pav structure from JA, and it looked pretty to my eyes.

i''ll definitely have more to post about both stones tomorrow. it''s a good thing i haven''t been too busy at work these days :)

That sounds fine, I will keep an eye out for the images - you are in great hands with WF!

Those are better images, thank you! It looks like a nice cushion, not the best I have seen - I would like to see the WF diamond so we can work through both where possible.

and last close up (phew!)

any thoughts?

i feel like towards the border of the table there is some crushed iced looking stuff going on, where the color seems to be warmer than the rest of the stone. either that or i''ve been looking at the computer too long...

thank yoou!!!

What is it you''re wanting in a cushion exactly? What kind of look/sparkle?

I''ll be honest, I''m not getting a warm fuzzy feeling from this one, but that''s just me!

Its hard to tell from a photo, there is a definite tint to the stone but if that is what you want then thats fine. Like I say its not the best cushion I have seen, but it is what you think of it that matters. I would hold off making a decision till we see the results of the other diamond from WF.

i agree lorelei - there have been many cushions i''ve seen on PS that made me gasp because they were so beautiful, but i didn''t quite do that with this stone. i should be hearing back from James at WF today, so i''m eagerly anticipating that :)

Ellen - i had a similar reaction as yours - it didn''t exactly sing to me, but i feel like there is a little charm to it, not sure if it''s the warmth. i''m definitely looking for something with a lot of brilliance - i''ve seen a lot of cushions that looked dead in the middle and i think it was because they were cut too deep. i also think it has to do with the pavilion structure. the WF stone has a modified 8 main which i think will look fabulous. this one is a 4 main but had a great price so i figured why not take a look at it. the consultant i''m working with is also super nice, and she''s been really responsive to all my requests and questions.

i''m definitely waiting for the WF stone before making a decision. after seeing better images of this stone, i''m very excited to see what the WF cushion looks like.

will post as soon as i can :)
