Any Suggestions on a Setting for this Pink Sapphire

Hi Everyone -

I have this lovely oval pink sapphire, 2.61 carats. The size of the stone is 8.9x7.2. My ring size is 7.75 (right hand). A local jeweler looked at it and told me that to circle it with diamonds, the 12 diamonds could be no larger than 6pts each. I was hoping to end up with something a little more substantial since my fingers are long in addition to being a size 7.75. Does anyone have any ideas on what I could do with this? Any suggestions and picttures would be appreciated!!!!!!

Just as a point of reference, the setting above appears to have 2 pt diamonds and it is still substantial. The description says there are 40 total melee with a total carat weight of 0.8 carats.

You are right pregcurious, the ring does look substantial. When the jeweler set the stone arround my sapphire
he was just laying them on the mat and I guess they looked so small because nothing was in a setting.
