Hope everyone is keeping safe. I have some money to spend on something frivolous. There's nothing I'm particularly coveting at the moment so it may be a while before I find my splurge, or feel good about splurging given the current environment... however, I'm a sucker for an awesome deal.

Any suggestions? Jewelry or anything else that you would think of as a "treat" =)2

@bludiva  As I am a relative newbie, what are your recent purchases. Do you prefer new/bespoke/ vintage?

No recent jewelry purchases.... I like both old and new but am not very much into the detailed antique look, prefer simpler lines. I like pre-loved/upcycling. I know I didn't give much to go on, sorry! My likes are too random...

Was hoping someone might have a suggestion like, there's this cool thing that I came across the other day, you should check it out...

checking it out! blue nile is having a sale on completed jewelry items too...

Oh yes forgot about them too! Great deals and great deals on settings too!

So these are a bit over 10% above 2K but just fyi.

thank you for links to all these beauties and reminding me about jbg!

I find JbG INCREDIBLY overpriced for pre-owned items. I have found nearly identical items that she has on etsy and eBay for half to one-fifth of her prices. Here is a similar set of earrings I've had my eye on from a reputable seller. Plat Drop Earrings

What type of things do you like? Earrings, a coloured stone right hand ring? A bracelet? Pearls? Jade?

I know nothing, nor did I research, so I can only assume.
I don’t know if JbG lists her items as being true antiques or not? But if so
does the Argentinian seller you linked do so as well?

My understanding is that the Argentinian is an art and antiques seller. He has far fewer pieces at the moment than normal, likely due to the pandemic. I know someone who vouches for the quality of his items, which are usually very fairly priced. However, I do see his lack of return policy and occasional lack of detail on diamonds as drawbacks. This appears to be the matching ring to those earrings.

probably a rhr (colored stone or perhaps a coppery-brown diamond) but i'm open. earrings are least likely b/c that's what i'm most afraid i'll lose. but if nothing is really calling to me, maybe i just need to bide my time. =)

I browse the eBay listing of my favorite luxury reseller (komehyo) obsessivelyy, lol. They sell a ton of pre-owned jewelry and high-end purses.

Here are just a few rings with colored stones between $1600 - $1800.

I dream of adding a bunch of their stuff to my cart and just hit the "buy" button, lol.

This is my pick. I’d buy it myself except I already have two conversions and another two to create.
This is a vintage Platinum and diamond watch with diamond set band, over 3 carats. $1,999 on eBay. It does work as a watch but my plan would be to convert it to a diamond bracelet with a centre gem.
Look at the workmanship, how beautifully designed it is.63863434-DCCC-4BDA-BD68-50F7279806D0.jpegCCB13B2E-A5FA-431A-B51E-3CD1D7FC46AA.jpegB1D5CC31-38D3-459B-8EBD-AFC840BF97B2.jpeg
I even have the other Jade piece that would go into this one!
Here are the two I’ve done. The “better” one was converted by my jeweller, the other was a DYI job.

Supposedly Sako has items he is selling off my cheaper than usual -- I cant see the prices and dont have an instagram account to enquire (but he is making me super curious)

So pretty, would love to know if you get more details  . His stuff is apparently amazing in person.

i really like his stuff but i hate the whole instagram DM thing ...i feel like i have to REALLY want something before inquiring ...will keep an eye out tho, thank you!

Yes fair call, I also dont like it. Especially when someone says something is a 'killer deal's, 'special pricing' or 'on sale'. I wince majorly, as there is no previous instances of their pricing structure so how can I know? In some cases there is even a before the sale post and a current sale post -- both without any indication of price. And with several vendors who are known to wildly mark things up and have very interesting pricing models, I just shrug and think 'yeah right'.

As far as I know this is one of the better instagram vendors -- from what I have read he is very honest. And if you click on the circle at the top left hand corner of the screen repeatedly, eventually you bring up some black Friday posts which mention pricing.

But yeah I agree, the DM for price is a pretty off putting recent trend. And I would also have issues endorsing it.
