My jeweler showed me a ring out of a new white gold from stullers called X1, it is a white gold with nickel. It is rated a 1 on whiteness and is not supposed to yellow like white gold. It is also supposed to be harder than platinum. Has anyone heard of this. I would like to know how long it has been out, and what the benefits and downsides are. any feedback would be appreciated.

I think if you do a search on here, you''ll see it mentioned. I don''t recall anyone saying they have a ring made with it. But I''d certainly be interested in trying it. A durable white gold that stays pretty white would be very desirable. What is the price like compared to other white gold?

i don't know anything about it but it seems like an obvious downside would be the potential for exacerbation or production of a nickle allergy.

X1 White Gold is a relatively new allow from Stuller that doesnt need rhodium plating, i''ve heard it''s quite hard and has a bright finish. I do not know if it is harder than platinum, though

Not to thread jack... but David do you know if it''s a good metal for pave? If I go WG I REALLY would prefer an alloy that I don''t have to re-plate. Thanks, Layla

Oh goodness, the fact that you don''t have to replate is good for pave, but workability is also a concern when it comes to intricate setting like pave. I''ll try and get more information for you.

The price is a little higher, maybe halfway between white gold and platinum. I need to find out more. I''ll let you know when i have a better idea.

David thank you for your input, it is supposed to be harder than platinum. would you recomend treating the inside to avoid potential nickel allergy? Also do you know how long it has been out? Feedback on how it looks 6, 12 or 24 months old would be nice.
