Just received this little guy last week:

It was represented as a Victorian stick pin conversion dating to the late 1800s with an Old Mine Cut diamond set in the head. I don't know how accurate this is, and would love to hear any thoughts on this. To me, the details on the snake head and the way the diamond is set do look consistent with an antique piece. Victorian or not, I can see that this is going to be one of my favorite pieces!

I think Grace has a few snake motif pieces in stock right now. Just sayin...

stracci2000 - Thanks! I was worried it was too big or bold, but I think it works.
missy - Thank you! Ooh you have me curious re: what I don't know about Jimmianne? A fabulous collection of serpent motif jewelry, perhaps? Please share!

Enjoying all the pieces posted so far. I actually do have some snake pieces but no clue where they are. Hmm wonder if my mom has them. If I find them I will post here. Nothing expensive but super cute.

Jimmianne, is that ring here yet?! Cannot wait for you to put that on and share a hand pic here. :appl:

Jimmianne, this looks wonderful on you. Meant to be!

bbziggy - Your pieces are so pretty with the blue enamel! I love that rich blue color. Can you share more details about them?

missy - Thanks! Wasn't my idea to convert, as I bought it already done, but I agree! I'm just getting into antique jewelry, but there are so many wonderful pins conversions on Etsy and Ebay.

I took a couple of hand shots the other day:

I love these!

Thanks blingbunny10! Love your new pictures of your ring!!
My two pieces were bought at different times at the Miami Beach Antique Show. They are both English and Victorian probably form mid to later 1800s. Both high carat gold with dark blue enameling . They both have pearls and either ruby or garnet eyes. The bracelet also has old rose cut diamonds. Both have a memorial hair locket on the back that opens and is covered by a piece of beveled glass. Thanks for asking :)

Nice additions!
You and your jeweler made such a great snake ring. The design is great and the workmanship as well.

Blingbunny,
I am enamoured with your serpent.
I was told by an antique jewelry specialist that my ring has an antique stone, but the setting is probably from the 80's. That's OK, but I do like the authentic antiques.

My souvenir from France in December was this serpent pin. I'm not quite sure what to do with it yet. It's small, but a little too long for a ring. It has a bale, but does not like to hang straight. I've considered mounting it in or on a pendent of some kind.

I love your new serpent Jimmianne! Is that a sapphire mounted on his head? Could you make it into a bangle bracelet perhaps? What is the length on it? A necklace could be nice as well

sapphire, yes. and little red-stone eyes.

thanks for the ideas
It will be fun to figure out what to do with it and I'll take it to my bench guy to see what he comes up with. [[[another project]]] : )
I think what I thought was a bale for a chain [on the tip of the tail] is actually where a guard chain with pin would have been attached.
Since the mouth is open, it might be cute to make a pendant where the snake is holding a necklace chain in its mouth.

Love all of the pieces in this thread  I have rings, brooches & earrings-all from the 1980's & costume jewelry. I don't wear any of that but have been strongly considering setting a red spinel I have into a snake ring & went on a google/pinterest spree looking for idea's.

I had emailed CVB about making the piece, then had second thoughts, but I think I will do a snake ring :appl:

woofmama, that's exciting. Can't wait to hear your thoughts and see what you come up with.
