Dear All

I would really appreciate some advice on my three stone RB ring. I remember when I was choosing the stones that I thought they looked good on paper however somehow since I''ve had the ring it just doesn''t seem to have the sparkle of some other lady''s rings. I have tried cleaning it with ammonia solution at home. It has been professionally cleaned too, albeit a couple of years ago. It just doesn''t seem to have the impact of some other people''s rings I''ve seen, which sparkle blue and all the colours of the rainbow even in dim light. Could it be the clouds in the centre stone?! I am on the verge of hanging the stones, however I need to know what to look for. I''ve even wondered whether I should take the ring for confirmation that the stones are those I have the certificates for, but don''t know how to do this (I am based in London, UK).

I''d be so grateful for any advice/opinions on the quality of these stones on paper.

The sidestones have proportions that we would call steep/deep.

I suggest you make an appointment with an Infinity dealer in London, http://www.bestdiamonds.co.uk/

Hi stoneagegirl and welcome,

The centre stone has good proportions and I don't think the clouds will be an issue in VS2, the comment ' clouds not shown' isn't normally anything to worry about. Julie is right that the side stones are what we call ' steep deep' and it is possible these are showing light leakage which is reducing their brightness and performance.

How often are you cleaning your ring? A daily cleaning isn't excessive if the ring is worn regularly, diamonds are dirt and grease magnets so if you aren't cleaning it daily or after each wearing, it is possible that your ring would benefit from this. Maybe get a pro clean to start you off then perhaps consider investing in an ultrasonic machine for your ring, or give it a daily soak and scrub in ammonia - providing your setting isn't white gold as ammonia isn't good for WG.

Thank you for your advice. Do you know if an infinity dealer would consider exchanging/buying back my current diamonds from me in exchange for new ones. If not, I would need to go back to the man who I got these ones from.
