I''m looking for an "antiquey" engagement ring setting that is also sleek, subtle, and low-profile. I have looked at a lot of website and showrooms and most of what I have found so far is nice, but big, bulky, and high-rise, which is not my girlfriend''s style.

Has anyone had experience with www.whitehousebrothers.com or www.weddingrings.com (aka Wedding Ring Originals, based in New York)? I haven''t had much luck finding anything out about either business, although I like what I see (WRO doesn''t have an impressive website but its store has a lot of neat stuff). Any advice or thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Have you tried antiqueengagementrings.com? They have some amazing settings. Many are low profile and elegant.

I second that antiqueengagementrings.com recommendation. I got a setting there that I'm happy with. Leigh, the owner, was pleasant to deal with. He has a booth in one of the 47th Street diamond exchanges in Manhattan. I went to shop for my setting in person. He took a lot of time to show me all the settings and answer my questions (I was very indecisive), and his setter did a good job with my diamond.

I love antique-y looking rings!

What era are you looking for?

Some things like deco and nouveau are pretty available, but I only know of one source of outstanding Victorian filagree.
I don't remember the guys name, but he always has a booth at Tuscon. GJX show maybe? Anyone know who I'm talking about?

If you are interested I can dig up his card.

Also vancraeynest.com. Detailed, die-struck rings. Check out their "bangle" line, which is available both as e-rings and wedding rings. I'm rather partial to them since they made my set.

I've heard good things about Whitehouse Brothers. They supposed do die-struck rings as well.

Whats die struck mean?

Above is a link I have saved on my computer which explains die struck. I believe this is how coins are made as in being stamped or struck out of the metal.

You may wnat to take a look at this funny-named shop
