I bought a beautiful platinum sapphire diamond ring with an approx. 3.75 medium blue uncolored sapphire with excellent transparency, four baguette diamonds, small, to the side. It is a Deco ring and very clean lined and lovely.

How do I know if I paid too much? I bought it at 50% off at a big sale. the vendors have been in business for 20 yrs in Southampton, NY and seem reputable.

Also, I did not get any official paperwork stating the quality of the sapphire and diamonds. should I have?

An appraiser could tell you.

It does indeed sound lovely.

If this is a major purchase, it certainly would be wise to have an appraiser look at it to confirm that the sapphire and the mounting are indeed what they were described to be, and that the price is in line.

On the other hand, one could just say that if you're in love with it, and have to have it or die, then the price is just right!

Any chance of a picture? I'd love to see it!

Ditto what Widget said. It sounds gorgeous! Please show us a picture.

Yes, you should have gotten their claims about it in writing--that''s always a good idea. Can you go back and get them to write it down now?

Did you pay too much? Well, do you love the ring? Could you spare the money? If so, don''t worry about it too much.

You might want to get it appraised, expecially if you plan to insure it. That would be a good way to make sure you got what you thought you were getting and check out the price.

pictures please!!!! Sounds lovely.
