I fell in love with the CVB June cluster at the start of my RHR diamond journey, but realized the size I would need the stone to be for the look I want was out of my budget. Especially since the step cuts face up smaller. So I moved on to my round which I love.
Couldn’t get over that ring though so I was considering having one made with a distinctive gem heritage emerald moissanite. I saw some of his moissanites and I think they look great.
Contacted Caysie about it and she said she might be able to get me a lab diamond in that size for a very good price. So I’m very excited. Lab diamonds kind of more than I wanted to spend on an alternate ring, but at the end of the day I would rather have a lab diamond than a moissanite. And at this size, I think I will be very content in my jewelry situation. A round and a step cut, I’ll have my yin and Yang set.

I’m going to ask her if this design works North South, what do you guys think?

I think that design would look lovely with the stone being N/S instead of E/W.

When something just keeps drawing you back in, time and again, it makes sense to get what you really want. Yes, it is more money spent, and a lab grown diamond will certainly be more than a moissanite, but the heart wants what the heart wants, and if it will bring you joy (and balance our your collection!), #JustDoIt.

What a thrill! Thank you for sharing the start of this journey with us.

Thank you! Yes I feel the moissanite would be a temporary hold over, but if I get this made it’s a done deal and won’t have to plan on changing it or upgrading etc. I’ve been pining over it for at least a year maybe 2 now.

I think it's gorgeous. I absolutely love the vintage feel. I personally prefer the N/S orientation, but either way will be stunning. I'm excited for you!

This is the style of cut I’m going for, and I was playing around with my halo clip for my round. I have an old mounting which the halo clip fits on and plopped a CZ on it. I love it with the emerald - kind of a cool idea if the June can be worked to fit the halo clip

Rendering of the facets
I’m assuming it’s going to have a culet based on the other image but I’ll double check
I’m thinking 4.5 cts which will be about 10.5 x 8.5

Oooo, I do love that faceting! Does Caysie have someone that will custom cut lab diamonds for her?

Yes it seems she does! And she said it might only take 2 weeks! I love the faceting too, I like it better in the photo than the computer rendering wondering what the difference is.

I’m hoping the cut will be similar to this? Although mine is more narrow… What do you guys think? Thanks
I was trying to get one of his antique lab cuts last year but gave up lol
I didn’t know of any other source except Ouros cutting this style so I’m really excited she can get this. I also like the DG heritage emerald but this is truly the cut I’ve been after with the culet and everything.

OMG, this is exactly what I want too! An oh so slightly elongated asscher/nearly square emerald, small culet, large windmills.
I think, based on the computer rendering, that the person cutting yours did a good job adjusting the angles/proportions to give you a similar look/feel but just slightly more elongated. I'd want a 10x9mm ideally, but don't know what carat weight that translates to.
I'd have given up on getting one of Alex's lab antique diamonds too, I'm not glued to my phone enough to ever have made that a possibility for me.

I know I love that one! Ugh I was 100% confident in this setting, now that it’s happening I’m second guessing it. :/

Well, you'll have to get a CAD mock up for any design you go with, right?
Also, seeing the diamond once it is done might be what it takes to really settle in on what you want it dressed in. ;-)

Bad photoshop mock up while I wait for CADs plus another setting I’m tempted by DEA61303-E1FD-45DE-9CED-B66B739E29AF.jpeg

Yup, it will look lovely with the N/S orientation!

I can see why you are drawn to the baguette step cut halo though. My only concern is that the diamonds in the halo might compete a bit with the facets of the antique emerald.

That VB baguette halo is the stuff of dreams. But I am biased since I did a similar halo for my mom.

Stone is almost completed!! Just need to do the culet. I think they wanted to double check that I wanted the culet. It’s 4.7 now
I have a video but don’t know how to add it

What do you guys think so far

I could not find a "drooling" emoji. I'd have to see the video for sure, but the images look quite exciting! So far I'm sold.
4.7ct, any dimensions yet?

So what Caysie is saying, is for the diamond to get certed and have me look at it before the culet. She thinks it’s perfect without it. As of now looking as E/vs1 4.7 10.52 x 8.43
What do you guys think culet or no?
I think it makes sense to see it and then she can have that done easily while we figure out the setting

So I think the culet would be long and skinny, not the same shape as the rendering or the inspo stone from Alex. Due to this, I think it actually may look better without a culet. I think a long and skinny culet would distract from the beautiful wide clipped corners. I prefer culet shapes to be more like the rendering or the inspo stone.

Yes see this is my concern, I thought it was going to come together in the middle more of a square vs a rectangle. And the square is what I wanted :confused2:
