New thread since it has been decided my wife wants an antique cushion. At the recommendation of a gracious member this Victor Canera was recommended.

We have a 7-9k budget for the stone, she wants something unique, warm (but doesn't look too yellow), looks big (as close to 7x8 as possible) and sparkles.
She has a size 7 ring and the stone will be set as a solitaire now then put in a custom setting next year. She wants a rose gold and white gold/platinum halo setting.

What do you all think?

Here is the video:

It looks really beautiful! Just be sure the inclusion doesn't bother her. :)

I love antique cuts (or repro antique cuts) in a warm shade, and this is beautiful. Are you happy with the dimensions? Since 'size matters' a lot in your case, I would carefully consider the spread (not huge, but cushions are like that). Is it going in a halo?

Yes it will eventually go in a custom halo setting. It is 7x8 which looked like a nice size.

I would NOT buy this stone for her without showing her the diamond first, or at least a close friend of hers to see if she'd be ok with both that inclusion and the color. For a lot of even antique cut lovers, J/K/L is the lowest many of them will go. I'm not saying anything is wrong with this stone - it's gorgeous and obviously you'll be getting a great cut, but inclusions across these broad facets are just not for everyone, and you'll want to be sure. It's also a very soft-shouldered cushion, tending more toward an oval shape - is she ok with the rounder cushions?

I would continue searching and the right stone will surface eventually. This is an SI2 stone - you need to be sure that the inclusions aren't too visible and if they are, will she be okay with that? Also, the warmth of the stone? You don't want to have buyers remorse. However, if both of you are fine with an SI2 stone and the warmth - then I say go for it! Only you and your wife can make that determination.

He first thing I noticed was the inclusion. Are you SURE that won't bother her? And do you know what is considered "too yellow"? It's a big an investment to take a chance on these major blatantly visible characteristics. Of course the cut is fabulous and if she is ok with it all for it.

HI:

When "size matters" and there is not an unlimited budget, you prioritize.

It is a beautiful stone, but at an M color it will show body color and an SI2 clarity you likely will see inclusions. Only you know where your comfort zone is but you might not know until you see those parameters, IRL

(here is your October thread where you stated you wanted an eye clean stone...SI2's are often, well, not.....

Just so you can get an idea of color, here's a link for a 2.8 N VS2 antique cushion that Pricescoper cjchumphries halo-ed. A N and a M are going to look pretty much the same color to an untrained eye. Her results are beautiful. Notice the yellow color of the stone is clearly visible. As has been pointed out, some people love and want the color and others do not. It's a matter of personal taste. Because you are spending a lot of money and this ring is to be a "holy grail" ring, I would not want to compromise for a lower color to get a size I want if there was the possibility I would feel buyer's remorse later about the color.

Thanks. I need to go back through that thread. I think that was a couple years ago. Life and kids got in the way and I've dropped the ball!
