Another Umbalite Masterpiece from Gene

What a difference a day makes!

I had an absolute nightmare trying to take some photos of this little beauty when it arrived yesterday and then suddenly, when I''d stopped trying (typical!), she decided to perform!!! OMG, I''m absolutely speechless. This is an Umbalite Garnet, 2.71ct, concave cut. I''m going to let the photos do the talking, no need for more words ..................... apart from to say HUGE amounts of respect to Gene for producing such a gorgeous gem.

Any suggestions on setting for a ring or pendant would be great! I was originally thinking of a pendant to match my Umbalite ring but this is such an interesting gemstone that I think I might want it where I can see it more!

Gorgeous!! I would do a ring simply because I think pendants get lost with smaller stones. I think a ring would be gorgeous - maybe a modern setting to highlight the modern concave cut? I would definitely do rose gold.

No but it''s very strange! In most lights it looks pink/purple - a bit like crushed raspberry with a hint of pink but in certain lights it suddenly shows red as well and becomes almost bicoloured looking! It''s really odd as it''s not doing it now so I guess it must be very light sensitive!
