Hi everyone,

I''ve been lurking for a few days and finally decided to post. I have a couple of questions regarding studs (thanks for your patience in advance!):

1. What kind of cut is best for studs? I''ve never really liked rounds and have preferred cushion/radiant cuts. Would those cuts be better reserved for rings?

2. After reading through a couple of threads on studs, I get the feeling that most feel that around 1.5ctw would be the ideal size. How would realistically would I have to be prepared to spend these days for (i) loose diamonds plus setting plus jackets, (ii) ready-made pair (for rounds as well as the other cuts)?

3. I know all the vendors here are great to work with, but I really haven''t spent enough time on their sites to really know the difference. How are the premiums for loose diamonds? And which vendor do you recommend/think would give the best "bang for the buck" (i.e. upgrading policies, etc.)?

4. Would it make sense to have micropave all around? I saw this on Leon Mege''s site and fell in love, but don''t really know how practical that is (or if it''s just a waste of $). Link below:

Thanks!

Welcome Shu

Well, it may take a little bit more effort to find matching cushions over rounds. You might contact Engagement Rings Direct if you want cushions, they are known for cushions.

Well I guess it depend on color and clarity how much studs and jackets will cost. What kind of jackets are you thinking of? Whiteflash and Good Old Gold have ready made studs; WF (readysetgo) aren't upgradeable but GOG's are; you will want to check their websites for their policy's. If you give us your budget and the cut you are looking for we can help you look.

There are lots of good vendors on PS. You can use the search tool above for a list of stones and prices http://www.pricescope.com/sift.aspx

Here is James Allen's upgrade policy http://www.jamesallen.com/about-us/upgrade-policies.asp
