As the title suggests. I should not have done, but I did it anyway…

Hopefully arrives tomorrow. Estimated 1ct 5 stone. No other details *sweating*. A couple of stones look to have a very shallow crown angle - what does this mean for performance? Hopefully they nice. It looks quite dirty, I’m looking forward to cleaning it lol.

Thoughts good and critical appreciated. Thanks.

I have a good feeling. I think it's going to be bright and lively!

Ooh—how gorgeous. I’m optimistic on your behalf as well

I told myself I will now sell some things to justify this purchase!

Without disclosing exactly what I paid, it seemed that anywhere between $1000 and $2000 could have been a fair price? Too late now, but one can’t help questioning themselves after an impulse buy.

Never, ever question the price of an impulse buy! All it does it stress you out and make you buy something else to feel better!!!! :roll2:

Beautiful and yes, that's the ongoing price.

Looks pretty!

What is the gray stuff? On the outside or chips on the diamonds...?

I didn’t notice that at all! It may be a dodgy setting job? It looks like some other tarnished metal has been jammed in to set the stones and looks like the Blob swallowing it up. I hope no chips. I also imagine it’s quite grubby. Looking forward to the glow up.

Unfortunately this is not my hand. I don’t have it yet…

So it arrived today. The diamonds are crackers- the mount is a disaster, as you can see. That “weird grey stuff” I don’t know how to describe it other than globs of grey metal used to set the stones. None of them are wobbling but it’s sure had a hard life.

The diamonds are like, super sparkly, very unexpected. The centre one is especially nice. They seem a high colour- maybe G range? The mrb is an E for reference. The centre one is about 4.2-4.3 mm.

Besides the mount being a mess, unfortunately it doesn’t stack well with any of my rings, and is the same size as all of them too.
I could rehab the mount, but don’t know if it’s worthwhile. Same goes for custom making a whole new ring- $$$ I don’t really want to spend. Or of course just wear and enjoy as is.

Thoughts?IMG_1169.jpegIMG_1167.jpegIMG_1166.jpegIMG_1161.jpegIMG_1163.jpegIMG_1160.jpegIMG_1158.jpegIMG_1157.jpegIMG_1152.jpegIMG_1153.jpegIMG_1154.jpegIMG_1156.jpeg

Those stones are too nice to send back! Given the price range you quoted, I'd say you got it for a very fair price, particularly given the quality and age of the stones. Do you think the grey blobs could be silver?

The diamonds look to be lovely! Can you stack with a plain band or two? I'd keep it, wear it as-is, and eventually re-set them. So pretty!

Ooh, the stones are lovely! If they are secure, wear as is for a while. Definitely keep

These little stones are just about the brightest ones I own, I cannot in good conscience return them (despite the setting. One is set so crooked the prongs reach up to the table lol). Very glad the gamble paid off.

It could be tarnished silver- I could use Silvo to clean them up, I assume this would be safe for diamonds.

I will take it to a jeweller to see what they make of the safety of the stones and a rough quote for rehabbing the prongs.

I don’t have any plain bands… maybe I need more rings….

Thanks for your input :)

Also I was curious about how to grade the diamonds. I’ve been doing some research but it’s so subjective. For example, the carbon spot- would make it at least an Si, but it’s not really visible with the naked eye…

It would look gorgeous with a plain 18kt gold band :kiss2:

Ooooo that is gorgeous. I'll bet the grey is tarnished silver from a poor repair. I have seen that before. I'm sure you will find something to stack with it in the future. Enjoy it!

Do you think it would be worthwhile having it repaired, or leave as is? Would silvo be ok to clean it? I was thinking today, perhaps I could find another mount, but probably a difficult task.

I turned my wedding ring around so it was plain gold. Yes, looked good!
