Hello PSers!
I've been pouring over PS the past 3 months - reading, learning, and hopefully absorbing a little bit of the wealth of knowledge here.

I'm looking to take the next step with my long time girlfriend this year and am looking to buy an AGS 0 RB diamond in the 1-1.25ct, G-J color, VS2-SI1 clarity range. The budget is around $5000-$5500 with priorities running from Cut->Size->Color->Clarity.

I'm looking at a few ACA and ES stones and would like to get some PSer's opinions on the following to see if they are on the right track:

A) 1.056 ct I SI1 ACA H&A, HCA 1.1

B) 1.148 ct H VS2 Round Ideal Cut, HCA 1.5

C) 1.252 ct J VS2 Round Ideal Cut, HCA 1.5

D) 1.224 ct H SI1 Round Ideal Cut, HCA 1.7

Thank you!

I like B&D based on color & clarity. I''d consider narrowing between those 2 based on possibly WF''s advice...like how clean is the SI1.

Hmmm, well, I'd be very attracted to this one (B):

because H VS2 is right at my preferred mark, but it has strong florescence which could be very nice. I'd ask them if it has any negative effect at all, and if not, I'd snatch it up because that is probably the only thing that makes it not an ACA. It looks fabulous in every respect.

Interestingly, this one (D) is also H with strong blue, so I'd ask about it as well. It is larger and a very nice price for the size.

It appears to be eyeclean, too.

You can't beat an ACA, so the I SI1 would be nice but it is smaller than the others. I wouldn't go to J since you have other good options.

Hello everyone,

I too am a "first timer" and in the market for a nice diamond for the woman I love. I am based in Chicago USA but since I''m travelling in China and Singapore for next couple of weeks, I''m looking to see if anyone has any guidance for buying a diamond in the Singapore area?

I am looking for the following:

- Round cut
- 1.5 to 1.75 carat
- E or F colour
- SI1 or better
- Excellent cut, depth and table
- GIA certified, preferably

Not 100% stuck on above so would welcome anyone''s advice / suggestions. Through this process I''ve learned that it''s all a matter of opinion.

Thanks a bunch!

Anthony

I like both B and D . . . they were on our short list before we snatched up a 1.23 with strong blue fluor . . .
I would pick D over B . . . but first call and ask them if either B or D has any negative effects from the fluorescence.

You are definitely on the right track. Let us know what you decide.

Thanks to everyone for their comments and I''ll definitely have a closer look at B & D along with the 1.15 ct I VS2 suggested by wimpwgn.
I''m a little concerned about the florescence on these, but will find out more from Whiteflash.

Thank you!

One of the reasons I considered the one I suggested is that the inclusions are mostly on the side, away from the table of the stone. Small difference, but I think it''s worth pointing it out.

Whiteflash has let me know that (A) and (D) are eye-clean and that the fluorescence in (B) and (D) are not detrimental. The 1.15 ct I VS2 suggested by wimpwgn also looks like a great candidate.

I also found a couple of SI2 possibilities. A little lower in clarity & price than my original search, but the plots look very clean and WF states that the 1.05 ct is eye-clean.

E) 1.004 ct H SI2 Round Ideal Cut, 1.0 HCA ex/ex/ex/vg
http://www.whiteflash.com/round_ideal_cut/Round-Ideal-Cut-cut-diamond-175736.htm

F) 1.05 ct H SI2 Round Ideal Cut, 1.8 HCA ex/vg/vg/vg
http://www.whiteflash.com/round_ideal_cut/Round-Ideal-Cut-cut-diamond-175733.htm

From the Experts point of view, are there any major gotchas in looking at the SI2s if they're verified as eye-clean and the numbers look good?

Thank you!
