You probably remember the previous diamond I was looking at:
http://www.exceldiamonds.com/Loose_Round_Diamond-143/Loose_Round_1.77_Carat_M_Color_SI1_Clarity_diamond-396474.html
Barry and Judah at Exceldiamonds did a great job and answered very fast all my questions.
Judah told me this diamond is eye clean, and I believe him of course, but the stone wasn''t ''mind clean'' enough for me.
So I continued searching and asked Lesley and Brian to hold a diamond for me (it isn''t a BG Signature).
I will discuss tomorrow with Brian to know what he thinks about it, but can you already tell me what you think?
Thank you!

Oh, sorry, I forgot to mention that IScope and Hearts are computer generated.
I''ll receive the real diamond pictures tomorrow.
How exciting to work with Lesley and Brian!

Feel free to criticize this diamond! (obstruction issues etc.)
It isn''t too late!

Hi Stephan!

Looks like there might be a touch of obstruction but see what Brian says, could be a great stone!

Hi Lorelei!

I'm happy to read you!
I want a nice eye clean light yellow diamond.
Excel's diamond looked really nice, but I didn't like the kind of inclusion (but it is not visible to the unaided eye). => mind clean issue
When I saw this one, I loved the steep crown!
I also see some obstruction near the kite facets, don't know if it's enough to be disturbing.
My 1.21 H-VS2 has a lot of obstruction inside the table (see my avatar), but in real life it's gorgeous.
Of course I will listen to Brian.
If he tells me to pass on it, I will.
When looking at the cert, the diamond was possibly a FIC.
Now I have the Sarin, it seems to be a 0.6 TIC.
Here is a simulation of the diamond:

Queen Mum do you have an actual pic? I just like to see how the real life matches up with all the other images.

Hmmm... I too see a little obstruction, but of course real life and Brian assesswment trump all this stuff I think.

My critique is that is it not big enough for you

You say shrinkage had kicked in and patilly motivated this search, but I think 1.2 to 1.5 is not going to be a really significant difference.

Hi Dreamer, it''s always too small, but I don''t want to spend much more money on it right now.
At least I respect the 20% rule.

Hi Tyty, I''ll post the real thing when I receive the picture from Brian.

Yes, I agree! Will you not trade in your current diamond? Or you prefer to have two?

Will you upgrade this one over time do you think?

I bought my current diamond at a very good price at JamesAllen. It won''t be an upgrade because now I work with Brian. The problem is that most of the pricescope dealers don''t stock L-M-N-O-P diamonds.
I don''t think I''ll be able to upgrade the 1.50ct L, it isn''t BGD Signature.
I already have a few people interested in the 1.21 H-VS2, but I really want to compare the 2 diamonds before selling one.

It''s funny to see how simulated pictures and the real thing can be different:

how do you see their non BG line?
its not on their website...

They don''t have a non BG line.
It''s a diamond I''ve found on another website.

My greatest concern: does this diamond have a painted girdle?
I know the GIA document should mention it but...

What does Brian say about it? It looks very lovely. You really can''t judge color from photos I have learned, but it does not look overly tinted to me. A very pretty diamond for sure!

Brian says it''s nice!
He was very friendly, as always, and answered all my questions with his very professional viewpoint.
Lesley and Brian are the way to go if you want an unforgettable diamond buying experience.
I''ll let you know when I take my decision.

I don''t think its painted Stephan, check with Lesley or Brian.

Hi Lorelei!

Brian was so friendly and we listened to each other a very long time on the phone.
You are right, the painting issue is negligible.
What is more a concern for me is the symmetry of the diamond: it seems to be shallower at one side, see the Sarin: pavilion variation: 40.1-40.8
Another thing is the lack of hot spots between the arrows (see Jonathan''s interesting tutorial).
But I don''t reject the diamond, I just need a little more time to decide.
