My goodness... from an E to a J. What a shocker to reality that must''ve been.

In the not too distant past we finished inspecting a business of around 55 diamonds, all beautifully cut precision Hearts & Arrows diamonds (although some were too painted or dug out) and out of the lot there were only about 3 we found that were conservatively graded.

My thought exactly! Man, I know they can be "off", but dang....

curious, your diamond turned out beautifully!!

It''s beautiful! They did a great job.

But i''m also wondering about the color grades. Ok, so they''re soft- and i get that grading is subjective, but aren''t there laws about being this much off?? We''re talking five color grades WTH??

Wow, your ring is just stunning! I love the setting and the stone is gorgeous (E/J who cares with all that sparkle?).
What a great job BG does!

I think it is a big deal for those considering EGL diamonds. Even an EGL with an amazing cut that sells as a discounted E (since we know EGL stones are discounted), would most likely be more expensive than an AGS/GIA graded J.

I dunno, but I see that as a big problem.

Sorry for the threadjack. In the end, you did get a gorgeous stone!

The straight difference between E IF and J VVS1 is around 3 x (yes 3 times the cost

).
EGL discounts are not usually that big !!!!

I am pleased to see this recut - in order to make the stone into Brians much loved H&A''s and preferred proportions the critical 2ct threshold would have been passed. Common sense prevailed

That is one gorgeous diamond! It''s still incredible, even with the warmer color. Congrats!

Its beautiful!

wow, what a difference and I''m so glad it will still work in your setting!

You''re correct Gary. Brian was really honest about the recut and told me that if he cut the diamond to his preferred proportions, there is a risk that the carat weight would drop below that magic 2 carat mark. I thought long and hard about that and just couldn''t take that risk and opted to go with the recut that would result in at least 2 carats.

I am extremely thrilled with the results. Brian did a wonderful job!
