My goodness... from an E to a J. What a shocker to reality that must''ve been.In the not too distant past we finished inspecting a business of around 55 diamonds, all beautifully cut precision Hearts & Arrows diamonds (although some were too painted or dug out) and out of the lot there were only about 3 we found that were conservatively graded.![]()

curious, your diamond turned out beautifully!!![]()
I think it is a big deal for those considering EGL diamonds. Even an EGL with an amazing cut that sells as a discounted E (since we know EGL stones are discounted), would most likely be more expensive than an AGS/GIA graded J.Date: 4/22/2009 8:47:28 AM

Wow, your ring is just stunning! I love the setting and the stone is gorgeous (E/J who cares with all that sparkle?).
What a great job BG does!![]()
The straight difference between E IF and J VVS1 is around 3 x (yes 3 times the costDate: 4/22/2009 8:54:13 AM

I dunno, but I see that as a big problem.
Sorry for the threadjack. In the end, you did get a gorgeous stone!![]()
Hi Charmy, here are links to other threads with pictures of the ring before the recut (and before the reset):Date: 4/21/2009 11:34:19 PM

It looks beautiful!!
Do you have a before photo of the diamond by any chance?

Brian is the BEST!! (he did my recut too!) and Lesley is a doll to work with
With such a beautiful, perfect cut, you won''t even notice the color! And IF... WOW
You''re correct Gary. Brian was really honest about the recut and told me that if he cut the diamond to his preferred proportions, there is a risk that the carat weight would drop below that magic 2 carat mark. I thought long and hard about that and just couldn''t take that risk and opted to go with the recut that would result in at least 2 carats.Date: 4/22/2009 9:01:06 AM

EGL discounts are not usually that big !!!!
I am pleased to see this recut - in order to make the stone into Brians much loved H&A''s and preferred proportions the critical 2ct threshold would have been passed. Common sense prevailed![]()
