Hi Everyone! It''s been awhile since I posted, but I had to share my beautiful recut courtesy of the one and only Brian Gavin!

When I first posted, I thought my diamond was a GIA certified 2.22 ct E, IF diamond. My then-fiance (now husband) had no clue about diamonds and certification. The diamond was actually EGL Antwerp 2.22 E IF.

After discovering Pricesope and reading about EGL Antwerp and how soft their grading is, I had the ring appraised to confirm its color and clarity. The results came back that the diamond was a 2.22 ct J VVS1. Imagine my shock!

I wanted to make the most of my diamond and considered getting it recut. After reading about all the wonderful recut stories by other PS''ers, I decided to bite the bullet and contact Brian. That was the smartest thing I have ever done!

It was such a pleasure to work with Brian and Lesley. Lesley was always so quick to respond to my questions and was so informative. Brian was so sweet and honest and gave me all the information I needed to make my decision. They never once pressured me, which I greatly appreciated. I wholeheartedly recommend anyone interested in getting a recut or having any jewelry or diamond needs to contact Brian and Lesley.

After the diamond was recut, it was sent to AGS for certification. The diamond is now a 2.024 ct J IF.

Without further ado, pictures of the rect:

First is a comparison of the diamond before (top 2 rows) and bottom row is a virtual picture of the diamond after the recut:

The best part about the recut was that I didn''t have to change the setting.

WONDERFUL!!! Can''t wait to see the photos!

Wow, I am so jealous!!!

(in a good way!) Brian is amazing!!! How great that the stone was 2.2 cts and could remain above 2 cts. on recut! (And this is another good post to prove why we advise people on here not to buy EGL!!!)

My goodness... from an E to a J. What a shocker to reality that must've been.

In the not too distant past we finished inspecting a business of around 55 diamonds, all beautifully cut precision Hearts & Arrows diamonds (although some were too painted or dug out) and out of the lot there were only about 3 we found that were conservatively graded.

Last one. Thanks for reading about my Beautiful Makeover!

.2 mm average loss and an amazing transformation. That's wonderful!

But. An E to a J!!!

BLEEP, I would have been seriously ticked off at the original jeweler, not to mention EGL Antwerp!

Definitely! I wished I had discovered Pricescope before the diamond was purchased. I''m so glad Brian offers this recutting service.

Thank you for your comment!

Yes, it was a HUGE shocker, to say the least. I could understand a 2-3 grade difference but a 5-6 grade difference. My goodness!

I hope this serves as a warning to others to NOT purchase EGL Antwerp diamonds. They are not reliable!

Thanks for feeling my pain. I never went back to that jeweler and warned all my friends and family about them.

It looks beautiful!!

Do you have a before photo of the diamond by any chance?

Wow! It sure looks beatiful! You must have been pretty shocked about the J color, but I''m sure it doesn''t take away from the beauty!

yowza-unbelievable!

That looks FANTASTIC - nice recut

Don''t be sad that it is a J, it is gorgeous.
Be careful, this diamond might make you blind under spotlights.
Now you will notice more fire than before.

32.9 crown is not shallow.
If you make a search on the forum, you will see that I''m a fan of 32.5 - 34 crowns.

What a good idea it was to recut your diamond!
And Brian did manage to keep the weight above 2ct.
I love happy ends and win/win deals.

Congratulations!
