Yup I jinxed it. I posted in another thread about the 1 truly awful experience we had with the miltary and low and behold what happens today!! DH calls and said it looks like we are now moving there for 3 YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;( ;( ;( ;( ;( Absolutely nothing is certain and it could change 100 times between now and next year but I'm really upset over this.

On the upside we do have some really good friends that would be moving there the same time as us. Argh what crappy news :((

Geez, it's like "Beetlejuice", you mention it's name and . . .

Son of a...that stinks! Well this time around, tell them where they can go!

I agree.

It's like prison, take out the head wench on day one, the rest will fall in line.

OMG. Seriously?!?!
Fingers and toes firmly crossed that it changes again!!!

If not goodness knows you and your friends moving there would hopefully change the dynamic *there* for the better...

Ack!!!!

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH oh that was awesome!

I'm actually not realy worried about it anymore, just blah about it. Now that I have kids and work full time I really don't have time/ energy/ patience/ personality to do the spouse related activities. I go when I must, but I'm not active like I used to be. However, this time around if anything is every said you can believe I will be much quicker to defend myself. I'm not 22 years old anymore trying to figure out my place in the world.

Oh, to be a fly on that wall..

Atta girl! :wavey: Maybe it won't be quite so bad this time? We'll still be here for you 24/7!

Oh no!!!

Well, you know what? Maybe it's not your bad luck you're moving there, maybe it's karma in action. They have it coming to them - getting their butts kicked. And you know if any nasty comments are made, just tell us PSers and we'll all ride in on our broomsticks to teach them a lesson. Maybe we'll uh... blind them with our rocks? Yes, that's it.

Yes I can see the wall of glitter pushing back the evil :P

My Dh actually made a very valid point that the majority of the people we knew 8 years ago that were there are probably not there anymore. Some will be as you can stay there for years and do the full 20 which is a lot of drive to most. But we should expect a different dynamic for the most part.

Oh geez ...that's the worst news! At least this time you can be prepared! Keeping my fingers
crossed that it falls through and you get that dream location!

Hey, glitter > garlic, ya know?

Dust for a change of plans!

Nooooooooooo noooooooo noooooooo!
Well if it happens! We support you here! So those other women can just go to H-E-double hockey sticks!!!

Can you tell me what the story is here? I missed your other posts and would like to offer support. But I would like to know what I am supporting  Or commisserating as the case may be...

SB....you have plenty of time to make up some t-shirts for you and your family just in case you end up back there and encounter the same or similar arseholes:

Goyim...tastes like chicken
Chosen and proud and you're just jealous
Been to hell and back, neener neener neener (for your child/children in particular)

I could go on but my inner beeeeeeeyotch feels a headache coming on.

Hugs.

Thank you so much ladies for the responses. Many of them made me laugh and that is pretty much what I needed. I can honestly say the brunt of the disappointment was hoping we would be stationed back overseas again. That has been our focus so to be diappointed we aren't - THEN to find out we are going back THERE is just H-E double hocket stick at YT put it. Oh well home is where you husband and kids come home too no matter what state so we will make the best of it. Until then I'm just going see what happens and hope that we get stationed in the far corner of Alaska instead.

Oh no Sarah- I am so sorry you have to go back there. :knockout:
But, if you need backup, just let me know and my dh and I will be there. We'll help you kick some a**!

I just had a patient today tell me she just loves the jewish doctors... LOL she's 77 yo but still, and that's in NYC...

 Sarahbear - that was DISGUSTING what those ladies said/did to you and your DH during that post!!! HOLY COW! I'm sending you a tsunami of DUST DUST DUST that something shifts in the universe and you get posted to a far more open and welcoming location! HURRICANE DUST DUST DUST for you as an added bonus! pooooooooof and whooooooooosh from Ontario :halo:

No idea if the far corners of Alaska are really that fantastic, but I'll send a bit of dust its someplace warm and sunny!!

People can be ignorant and yet coat it all in dripping honey, just to make themselves feel better.... maybe you can just plunge their heads *IN* the honey, instead!!!

I like your thinking Enerchi. When we found out we were being stationed in our current location someone, who is from this state, told me, "Now when you are there- watch those women because they have prefected the art of hiding their threats in compliments. So just sit and nod, pour them sweet tea and embrace your Scarlett." :D :D

Oh what timing. You had just posted the crappy experience there and now you'll likely have to go back. I wouldn't want to return there either.

Hopefully the local mentality has changed. If not, at least you have changed and are better equipped to handle such circumstances if they occur again.

On a different but related note, you should post about a great jewelry experience you had. Perhaps that will lead to . . . more great jewelry experiences!

Sarahbear, I'm so sorry for your horrible experience! That's terrible and unfortunately happens a lot. It's people like that that make our faith look terrible and push people away. I hope that if you do end up moving there, that you will find peace, and people that will be supportive and respectful no matter your faith. It's what He would do, and it's how those that believe should be acting. I do, however, think that you should be respectful to others no matter what. Praying for your family (or sending dust- same thing to me). Keep us updated!

Give em both barrels this time. You know you got it.

Are you kidding me??? Really??? I can understand why you're upset. I'd be upset too! All I can say is that it sounds like you're more mature now and you have babies to protect, so I know you won't let those b*tches get away with anything like that again.

I hope that the plans change and you don't have to move there, but if you do, I know that you'll make it work with grace.

Ok, serious, Sarah: the thing to remember is the humor of it. If anybody gives you your room number for the afterlife: Laugh! It's really hilarious, after all, isn't it? (Besides, it'll drive 'em crazy.)

You might dredge up a little pity too. All exclusivity stems from insecurity. Sometimes Life feels like we're standing in the middle of an endless open field, nowhere to hide from lightning & tornadoes, fundamentally defenseless. We are at the mercy of Fate. Gathering in herds makes us safer, or so we think. We're a group-oriented, social species that forms clubs in every aspect of life; hierarchy is necessary for order, therefore Our Club is better than Your Club, nyah nyah. Once you get that, it all shrinks to a manageable size in your mind.

Life throws us such awful left hooks, I don't begrudge anyone whatever tools they use to survive it. As long as they don't insist others use the same ones.

I'd be tempted to remind these bozos that the Jews did all the heavy work first, what with Noah & the 10 Commandments and all. Jesus was Jewish; therefore we all are, in a way. (A compliment, to my mind, no wiser bunch of people around.)

I live in the Bible belt too & cope by ignoring it. Pleasant & superficial relationships with many, avoiding the rest. It's harder in the services where you have to do certain things, but ignoring idiocy is more a state of mind than of body. Go girl!!

--- Laurie

P.S. I hope this post doesn't get zapped.

Hi,

Jewel Freak, I could not have said that better. I, too, live in the Bible belt and agree with your way of handling it.

Sarah, you are not 22 anymore, and you will handle it much more to your own satisfaction now.

I like this line of thought! :appl: :appl: :appl:

I just read the thread.

Can you argue religious persecution reasons for not being stationed there? I mean it seriously.

Are your kids school age? I hope not! I would not want my kids exposed to such bigotry.

Our oldest will just be entering Kindergarden when we move there. And our daughter will follow the next year. I am slightly concerned with how everything will play out in school. I went to elementary school in Lousianna for 4 years while my father worked on his doctors program. I vividly remember having children ask me where my horns were as well as not being invited to certain events (that weren't school sponsored), so I am concerned with how they will be treated and how this will affect them. We might enroll them in the DOD school system if it is available there as I think it would be more tolerant then some other local places. As we get closer to moving and actaully have orders (which means everything is set in stone) we will fly out there a few months early and start checking into schools and see what our options are. I want to see them, talk to faculty, see the circumlum etc before I make any decisions.

Sarah, I am saddened and disgusted that you were treated that way. It does seem the opposite of the faith that I believe in which is founded on love. No person is the judge of another's salvation. That is Someone Else's job. Goes to show that not all who call themselves something really are. Just keep that in mind.
