Hi all,

I am considering buying a stone that has an AnchorCert certificate. AnchorCert are part of the UK''s Assay Office based in Birmingham and seem to be the best certification lab in the UK.

But my questions is how does AnchorCert compare with EGL for a stone of eqivalent spec? I know GIA is the most respected and generally their grading is more stringent than EGL (with EGL generally grading 1 colour/clarity less), but what about AnchorCert? Do they grade roughly the same as EGL perhaps? or are they much less respected e.t.c. and therefore stones of equivalent spec are cheaper when they only have an AnchorCert certificate..?

(I really want to focus on AnchorCert vs EGL in this thread please rather than EGL vs GIA as this is already well discussed on this forum).

Any practical advice appreciated!

Thanks a lot
Nick
