Hello everyone!

I am new to this site but I am absolutely facinated!!! it''s been very helpful & informative...I think I might''ve found my diamond through it too!

I need someone who knows about pear-shaped diamonds to tell me what they think of this picture! I''ve been sent this picture by an online vendor & I need to decide whether to buy or not! I am slightly hesitant since I can''t tell if this diamond is exhibiting a bow-tie effect or is this how a close-up magnified image looks like?

The diamond''s GIA graded, has VG polish & VG Symmetry. The clarity is VS1 & Colour is J. I don''t know if based on this picture, the diamond has visible flaws...does it seems to have the fire & brilliance????

Thanks a million!!!

I think it looks pretty good. A bit tinted, though.

Well, I don''t know a good pear from one you should run screaming from, but I really like the shape! Not too skinny, not too squat

Any other images specs of the diamonds? ASET or Idealscope? you can't based fire/brillance off of a picture of the diamond. Shape is nice. Have you seen this in person? Does the vendor have a good return policy?

The vendor should be able to provide an ASET if it is the vendor I am thinking of, it looks like a nice pear. As to the bow tie, the only way to find out how much of a bow tie it shows is to ask for one of the gemologists to look at it for you.

Hey everyone! Thank you for your wonderful support!

Despite the diamond being tinted, the coloring is a "J" after all; I think that should be neutralized by the strong blue fluorescence, so for the size & the above average GIA report, I think it’s a good deal! But I will try to see if I can get an ASET or a gemologist’s opinion….anyone on this site that you think might volunteer for the latter?

I haven’t seen this in person but the return policy is 30 days refund. It’s pretty decedent. I like the vendor too, very professional & accommodating. I am waiting to hear back from their expert gemologist’s & see what the the take on the bowtie effect & brilliance.

Thanks again guys!

Hi Lorelei

Well I couldn''t get an ASET or an idealscope but the vednor was honest enough about the bowtie effect being a medium! I don''t know how I feel about that...I''ve never purchased a diamond before, and I''m afarid if I get it,I won''t be able to cope about the bowtie effect! it doesn''t show much though, does it?

Given that they have a 30 day return policy, how do you feel about having it shipped loose and checking it out for yourself before you set it?

That would be the best thing to do. Shame no images but at least we tried!
