I have learned so much lurking in the background of this forum, and am so happy to be here! I love this.

I'd love to get a second pair of eyes on the diamonds I'm looking at. 2.25 to 2.5 carats, H or G color, VS2 or VS1, budget of $25k.

Or, if you have another suggestion? I am just having a hard time telling if the center is lifeless, and if the steps are flashing properly based on the videos.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Can you ask the vendors what the crown heights are? From the pictures, I personally liked #4. I'd ask to see the GIA certificates from James Allen- it's annoying they stopped providing them. Rare Carat I believe provides them. Hope that helps a bit.

I'll do that! Is there a desirable crown height typically?

I had a handout that through a process of parameters. I'll look for and share it when I find it. It helped me tremendously when I chose my EC diamond.

Hi all!
So, an update -- my partner now wants to go with lab-grown, so we can be more stringent on quality since we're saving so much money. The other good thing is that they have IGIs, so I can get the crown height!

Here we go. I included it with Crown/Table/Depth, Ratio

1) 2.48c E VVS2 12%/63.5%/66.9%, 1.42
2) 2.45c G VVS2 18.5%/61.5%/66.7%, 1.38
3) 2.7c G VVS2 14%/64.5%/69.4%, 1.4
4) 2.61c F VVS2 13.5%/64.5%/64.1%, 1.425
5) 2.51c E VVS2 13%/65%/65.8%, 1.44

Any advice here?

I'll alert admin and let them know to move this thread over to the lab forum...here

Here's my quick opinion of the ones you posted above...
1 Probably the best stone out of the list but really could be livelier in the center (good but not good enough)
2 Looks pretty dead in the center (no facets flashing on/off)
3 Don't care for the rather large steps in the center
4&5...you need to request images and videos of the stone. Cant buy a fancy cut stones without images.

Gotcha -- sorry, didn't realize it was a different forum! New to this whole lab deal. I'll just post over there, this thread can be closed.

If any of you emerald cut experts have any advice though, I'd appreciate it :)

Welcome to the lab world! You'll likely be able to get a much cleaner, higher carat diamond for the cost.

Hi all!

Here's where we landed -- the jeweler said their ASET was for rounds so they couldn't fit the diamond in perfectly, but they did their best. Do either of these ASETs look good to you? If so, which one? All are between 2.5 and 3c

I think 3 looks the best.

Thank you! I guess I really don't know how to read ASETs, because I thought #1 looked good! Is it too much obstruction basically?

And what about #2 and #3 looks good?

Well I’m not great at reading ASETs but I’m excited to see what you decide on!

I'm not great at reading asets for emerald cuts but this might help

Basically you want red and blue evenly distributed and want to avoid white/black

Do you have videos or images for any of these options? It will help to see both the ASET and normal pics/videos
