Love the dog pictures! Amazing how dogs can transform with routine, discipline, and love, isn''t it?

tigian - I couldn''t agree more, we''ve seen the most amazing transformations. I can''t imagine anything more rewarding than helping a dog stay in its home, or finding a new home for a rescue dog in the shelter

this is fabulous! i love the positive nature of this!

we had a rescue dog for some years before we re-homed her with my best friend who lives in LA. she is still my dog and i fly over to spend a week or two with her every couple of months. she''s a deaf english field setter who was getting rough-housed a bit too much by my two hearing show dogs who can be quite dominant. they''re friendly, playful dogs, but she just couldn''t hear them coming, and it freaked her out increasingly over time as they''d pounce on her to make her ''it'' for their canine game of chasings. she LOVED chasings as a game when she knew it was coming - but when it started with her being tagged from behind...well....not good.

so she started getting tense and nervy and in the end we decided to re-home her (sort of). so now i spend my time running back and forth across the country between my home and her new home!

anyway, great to see them all so happy and responding os well. we''ve done various types of classes with all our dogs, and can really vouch for the therapeutic nature of building a dog''s self esteem through performance.

good job, ambergretchen!

Awww...Whitby your sweet baby - I can imagine how stressful it must have been for her with rambunctious other doggies stressing her out like that! And how sad for you to have to re-home her - I can''t imagine what a difficult decision that must have been. But it sounds like at least you get to see her regularly and spend quality time with her, and best of all, you know she is in a wonderful home and being cared for the very best she can be

I couldn''t agree more about performance training - I just think its such an ideal way to enhance anyone''s relationship with their dog, and to make the doggie happier and well-adjusted.

What breed are your show dogs? When I was a kid, my mom used to breed and show both a working line of Labrador Retrievers, and then later Akitas, so I grew up knowing and loving those breeds, among others. I even used to show as a junior handler from time to time - I''ll have to ask her if she still has the pictures, it was pretty funny to see my 8-year-old self struggling with a very stubborn 140-lb Akita

i want to do dance with my dogs. i''m sure you''ve seen youtube stuff of that - it''s incredible! and the dogs love it.

on my who''s who page there''s lots of photos of my dogs - irish red and white setters and english field setter. there''s a host of photos right at the beginning, and some at the bottom of the second page. they''re worth a look; irish red and whites are a rare breed and most people haven''t seen one. and they''re incredibly pretty. :)
