"AmazonSmile will shut down on February 20th. Charities enrolled in the program will still be able to receive additional donations until the program closes, and Amazon said it will be making a one-time donation to participating charities “equivalent to three months of what they earned in 2022 through the program.”

Darn, I really loved that platform. This is bad news for the charities we were all supporting.
I will spend less on Amazon and give more to my charities.

I saw that and I think it's a shame. I always used it to help get some funds to the rescue that sent me my little guy.

Same. And now they are choosing their own charities. I don't necessarily want to support their charities...they have an agenda and they make enough profit. They can still do good and donate where they want to and let us continue donating with Amazon Smile to our charities of choice. I really appreciated having the opportunity to add more donations to our favorite charities this way. I will purposefully be spending less on Amazon from this point forward

Well, hell. This was so helpful for schools.

Bummer... thank you for letting us know. I supported Smile Train, guess I'll donate directly from here on out.

Disappointing
In my case, a donation has been going to my daughter's high school band program
She graduated several years ago, and we moved away right after her graduation, but it's been our way of continuing to support a program that made a big impact on her

I did as much shopping as I could before the deadline. I wish they'd keep the program, but Jeff Bezos is unlikely to return my call.

Well there are a million reasons for this! Spouse will not buy anything from Amazon. She will drive to B&M stores or use online alternatives like Best Buy, Home Depot, Target. Some have even had better pricing -- we must not dump our cache often enough or browse incognito.

She will give me a pass if I am buying some one-off made-in-China tool that is a few bucks instead of buying a giant set of them locally -- like a diamond hole-saw bit for ceramic pots or brass hose-repair fittings or anchors for an exterior brick wall. Waiting only 48 h and spending only $3 - $5 to finish an otherwise-stalled home project is apparently worth the ethical ambiguity. =)2

Oh Uncle Jeff, he is a pain in my butt

JK not related lol because if I was we would still have the Amazon Smile platform :/

I applaud your wife. I wish I could be that strong.
Yes I will decrease my spending there but just as soon as I announced it I was in search of a specific product and went to all our local stores but nothing so I ended up ordering it from Amazon. UGH.
