Hello Ladies,
I've been reading on this site forever and am looking forward to the advice you can give me!
I'm looking at a 2.37 Round Diamond D S12 which is EGL certified (I've only previously seen GIA so not sure about this one).
It's pre-owned which I never thought I would do but now I'm just curious. The polish and symmetry are very good and the measurements are 8.53-8.43 X 5.3 mm.

What do you think ladies??

me think it is a bad idea to go for an EGL stone. grading will be atrociously inaccurate. Cutwise, it doesn't sound fantastic. You definitely need more details. Get the grading report posted or if you are really serious abt getting this stone, make sure you get an appraiser to give the ring a check.

Is it supposed to be eye-clean, because I think I see a lot of stuff near the girdle at 12:30 and at 7 o'clock. If what i'm seeing actually are inclusions, it is probably not a GIA SI2 equivalent.

Cut seems to be leaky with a big table with steep pavilion angle.

You really need to take this to an appraiser.

The mm's seem a bit off so it makes me think the cut's not that great...do you have any other info regarding the cut? Like the depth %, table %, crown and pavillion angles? It looks very white and a 2.37 for 12k seems great. Can you get an idealscope image? Do you have a better picture of the stone so we can see the inclusions?

It would have to be I1 clarity or worse to have that price. I just wouldn't bother with EGL and only look at GIA Excellent cut stones.

These are the additional pictures I have of the diamond and the certificate.

WOW. That table is WAYYY too big! You want to keep it under 60 at the biggest! It's also too deep. If all you care about is size and color, then ok...but it won't sparkle properly and I think those inclusions are too noticeable. If you think you can live with it, then fine.

HCA gives it a do not buy warning.

Thanks ladies! I appreciate your help--I won't be buying!
