Or Should I go with another Jewler who wants to sell me a GIA certified

for $9,000 with a planum tiffany''s setting (he offered it for 9,400 but I found almost the same stone on blue nile for the same price and he said he''d beat anything online by 10% - then I''d have to pay 6% sales tax so I''m guessing I''d pay around 9k)

What do you guys think? If you want to suggest any other diamond to look at online be my guest!

Thanks!!

the lower half for both stones is 80% (If I''m looking at the right number)

I forgot to mention that the more expensive one is completely eye clean and looks nice
the cheaper one has a very small black inclusion visable in the center when you rotate the rock around but looks very nice as well.

With these diamonds there is a chance that they could show leakage as they are around steep deep angle range, what I would advise is buying your own Idealscope so you know for sure if there is leakage or not, they are easy to use and to interpret the results with a little reading.

Yap, that is the number. Should be safe, but will need idealscope image to say for sure.

Tough decision... :P DOes the first jeweler has anything good without a visible inclusion? :P

He doesn''t have a large selection. He keeps saying how there''s a shortage in supply.

What do you think about the metal selection for the setting?

Metal, will depend on if your gf is allergic to WG.

She''s not. Maybe I should spring for platnum though?

Pt is the safer bet as people to develop allergy from long time exposure. Also better with the stone being eye-clean.

Warn a guy before posting something like that - I almost hurt myself falling out of my chair. I know 1.5's don't grow on trees but the main shortage is in HIS supply. Points for creativity though.

Oh and one more thing... This jeweler may very well be a nice and honest guy, I am not saying otherwise but FWIW posts that start off like this,
"So my Girl friend's father wants me to use his jeweler."
usually indicate one thing - DANGER DANGER DANGER
Do your shopping around - where you find the right ER for your FI is your business and might best be kept to yourself when these type of interpersonal dynamics come into play.
