Recently I posted some information regarding a diamond that my boyfriend and I were interested in purchasing for our engagement. From the various feedback I got (from this site and others) the diamond was very good, but not ideal. In fact, it was graded on the HCA as a 2.5. That rated it as a verygood. (worth purchasing if the price is right). This led me to be slightly leery, but not putting it out as a strong contender.
Well... my boyfriend decided to surprise me and purchase it without my knowledge!! (ah..boys
)
In fact, he proposed to me last night
Of course, having been a lurker for quite some time, my interest in diamonds has increased 10 fold. As a result, I just found myself mesmerized with my new ring! It is a half carat set in white gold. It has very good return of light. It returns white light especially well, making it very bright. I was very happy that some of my previous concerns turned out to be nothing.
Now, my question... At the very middle of my diamond I can see a small white dot. It is not much, and only appears at certain angles. From what I was able to read on this forum, many others faced this issue. However, the majority had only negative things to say about it. Personally, I think it adds something to the diamond. With its white brightness, the small center dot seems to give the diamond a "snowflake" type look.
DOES THIS MAKE ANY SENSE AT ALL? WHY SHOULD I LIKE SOMETHING THAT SO MANY OTHERS SEEM CONCERNED ABOUT? AM I INSANE?
I''m new to this whole diamond thing so I would love some imput!! I just feel crazy for thinking this way!
hehe.. I guess whats important is that I at least snagged the guy!
