Am I being too picky, or would this bother you too?

Hello all PSers out there!

So, after a loooonnggg process with one of the more positively discussed custom designers out there, I have finally received my (well until it makes it''s way onto my girlfriend''s finger) ring. I did see pix of the ring, including the attached, prior to seeing it in person.

My dilemma:

You may or may not have noticed my issue. While the ring is beautiful and the design was executed exactly as desired, note the setting of the pink sapphire on the right. The inside edge is most definitely set higher than the outside edge, while the stone on the left is set very well even.

My question(s):

Would this bother you too? Did you even notice? I have made inquiry with the designer regarding this and expect to hear from him today.

My thanks:

Thank you all in advance for your input into my situation!

First of all, the ring is beautiful!! You did an amazing job!

I am a very detail-oriented person, so yes, it would bother me. However, it really is hard to tell just how noticeable it would be without super close inspection/ blown-up photos. Are both tables of the pink stones flat? If one is bouncing light at a different angle because it''s not set symmetrically with the other, this would annoy me. I bet this would not be a major thing to fix, though. You deserve to be perfectly happy with your perfect ring!!

It's not really noticeable, however, you'll be looking at that ring for a LONG time, so if it bothers you, have it fixed.

or possibly live by the quote in your signature line: "Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection, we can catch excellence."

Your choice.

It would bother me since I spend a lot of time staring at my ring everyday..

Honestly, it might be a product of the stone''s girdle or cutting rather than the setting, it might have necessitated doing it that way.

But that being said, it doesn''t really bother me and I didn''t notice it until you pointed it out. But if it''s possible to change and you want to, then you should.

I have to admit that I think it would actually bother me more than FFI. I''m definitely more detail oriented than she.

Thank you all for your responses thus far.

Actually it took me a couple of looks to notice really all I saw was one stunning ring :) fantastic choice :)

It''ll bother me, cos I''m anal about symmetry!

If I am right about who made that ring (stunning btw!!) they will fix it until you are happy, so fix it! I think you may find it is an issue of the symmetry with the cut of the stone, and not the setting job--I have a similar issue with my native cut sapphire which is a little off-square on one side. But re-setting that stone is not a major issue and they will make it right!

Is there a steeper crown on the right pink stone? The setting job looks fine to my eyes, but the stones may just be slightly different. I''m sure you''ve spent more time looking at it to know though.

I think your ring is gorgeous. If it bothers you now it will probably continue to bother you. Go ahead and fix it while you can.

Thats lovely, if the right side bothers you fix it before you give to her.....no woman wants to give up her engagement ring after she is asked.

I just wanted to say congratulations on your future engagement & your ring is absolutely beautiful!

I must agree with Neatfreak. I think it might have to do with the cut of the stone or the size. Both beautiful btw, just a little different. I actually think that is what makes the ring unique.

Your ring is stunning! I love the detailing and color of the side stones.

I would never have noticed any problem - especially from head on. Hopefully your jeweler can take care of any issues you have with a simple fix.

Your girlfriend will love it!

Everyone--Thank you all for the kind words and advice, they are greatly appreciated!

Dreamer--Was it the styles of the photos or the filigree that gave it away?

Such a beautiful ring

Actually to me it looks like the right is set perfectly and the left is set lower

What a beautiful ring

I think the one stone being a little higher then the other would bother me, but maybe at a distance you wouldnt notice it so much.

I think it would bother me a little too! In any event, that is such a beautiful, unique ring! NICE JOB! She will love it!

I notice it a wee bit, but probably would not have had you not mentioned it. I am not sure if it would bother me or not...maybe I guess. It is very subtle, but you should be happy with your purchase.

I did notice it before I read on but it is subtle and I could live with it.

I personally didn''t notice. However just knowing it was there would bother me. And obviously by you posting your question on here it bothers you too. A lot of money was spent on the ring i''m assuming, and it should be perfect.

I love the pink side stones! I honestly didn''t notice it that easily.. And I had to reread your description of what was wrong a few times before I figured out where it is..

HELLO gorgeous ring!!! Love it.

To answer the question...yeah, it would bug me. Shouldn''t be a difficult fix.

A sensational design you should be very proud.

The right hand sapphire appears to be slightly more rounded that the one on the left which may account for the difference. What I have noticed is that the top right hand claw (of the sapphire on the right) looks like it juts out slightly (away from the sapphire at the top) whereas the one on the left you can''t see the top edge so much. This could possibly be down to the angle the photo was taken at or could have been done to accommodate the gemstone.

I think if you''re worried about it now then it may always bother you and if you have the option to change it now, it''s probably worth doing.

I love your ring! It''s awesome....

I would be bothered by it as well...I prefer perfect symmetry!!! (Ah the joys of over exposure to pricescope...lol)

i really like it. i noticed, but am not sure if it is because you pointed it out. honestly if it were mine i would love it with its small flaw. something that makes it a smidge less than perfect gives it charm. thats my opinion though

Your ring is gorgeous but if it bothers you I would get it fixed.
