Am I being too nitpicky?

I think the lighting in the second image you posted probably makes the prongs look bigger than they really are (because of the harsh prong shadows). Were you using flash on that one?

I think it's important for you to be happy with your ring. To me, the new ring looks very close to the original stock setting. I agree that the split shank difference was noticeable in their first try, but to me, the halo difference between the new one and stock setting is very subtle. It may be very difficult for them to exactly duplicate the stock setting, especially when they have to match the stones for the halo melee (but I'm not an expert on those things, so maybe it's easier than I think :) ). From the designer's perspective, he/she might be frustrated at having to remake the ring again for such a subtle difference. But of course you're the one who will be wearing and enjoying the ring every day, and you need to love your ring. Maybe wait a few days and see how you feel then?

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. Thank goodness I have my fellow Pricescopers to vent to!
As far as what is "off" about the new halo, it's almost like it isn't as sparkly as the first one I had, and I can't figure out why. For some reason, I keep focusing on the melee and thinking that they are not set as evenly or that the tiny micropave prongs are more noticeable on the reset. Maybe it's because of the extra ring of metal along the inner part of the halo next to the center stone that is causing the light to reflect differently? Also, I swear my center diamond somehow looks more yellow-tinged than it did before. Is it possible all this is related to there not being enough rodium on the setting? At this point, I'm kind of wishing I had just kept the first one because the halo looked nicer.
Sent email to the jeweler, waiting to hear back. I feel embarassed... They probably think I am crazy.

Contacted my jeweler, think I'm going to switch back to the first setting if possible even though the shank isn't what I wanted...

I am curious what your jeweler said. I have a similar situation where I had a custom setting designed was not happy with the first product so the ring was redone and I still am not happy. I feel embarrassed like you mentioned asking to have it redone again. Have you paid for it? Please post an update!! =)
